IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | So I've seen a few threads on here with regards to "Rallycross" in the US and I've just made a comment about it in another thread, so I though I'd enlighten you American folks on here as to what Rallycross originally was: YouTube - British Rallycross, Round 5. Super Final YouTube - British Rallycross, Round 5. Supercar B Final (Features a pair of Impreza's) YouTube - British Rallycross, Round 5. Supercar A Final These videos were taken by me at a UK Rallycross meeting a few weeks ago (sorry, not the best quality, but they're watchable), these show case the "Supercar" classes, though there are (slower) classes (Stock Hatch, Modified Hatch etc.). Its pretty much the only race series now where you can still see Group B rally cars running competitively. The UK is where rallycross was started (in the 60's), but there now pretty major series for it in Europe and elsewhere. So stop enough round cones and start racing each other round the dirt tracks! ![]() EDIT: This post was meant to convey my love for traditional Rallycross and show everyone what its all about, it was not suppost to be a pretentious rant at everyone. So SORRY and enjoy the videos! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. Last edited by tbtstt; 09-19-2008 at 02:12 AM. And we have dirt road where real rally races go on. Oh yeah and we get great sunny weather here in california. How the weather over there? What the cost of fuel and how big are the cars you guys drive over. Yup. +1 for USA!USA!USA! |

I respect both forms of the sport, but you cant say one is "real" wtf? Like sti's are real and evos arn't? ex. Both are very difficult, but one screws you car up ALOT more. Hense why alot of don't have time or money to spend fixing super dirty cars, with serious rock chips. To each their own, don't come to an american forum talkin smack! |

We're not all up our own a*ses in the UK... honest! Yeah, it can be a costly motorsport, as I said in the original post (if you skirt round my badly worded text...) there are slower classes which involve more economical motors; for example most of the "Stock Hatch" class are Peugeot 205 GTi's, which can be bought and raised to racing standard for about $3500 (which isn't cheap I know, but its the most affordable form of motorsport I know of). Still given how little you pay for petrol and insurance you can afford that though, right? | |

I also like the rally they did at the x games, that would be AWESOME to have a travling series here that raced at stadiums. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
