Default Watkins Glen in STI

Took a run up to Watkins, had a real blast the weather was perfect and the groups were very small.
It was my first time on R-comps so it took some time to get use to them plus it was my first run with the coilovers. The car was great combined with the Recaro seat i could actually feel myself relaxing back while i was driving,no more bracing of the console and door.
I learned so much and i must say this is from doing the two days as you can improve with the track fresh in the mind.
The instructor was really good,an older guy and he really helped me out.
I found i was running out of gear alot in 4th and in those cases i was out of track to grab 5th resulting in bouncing the limiter alot.
I hit the limiter in fifth for the first time i wonder what speed i was doing?
The Pagid yellows were amazing, inspiring infact.Ten trackdays and still no Brownbos.
All in all a great getaway from city life.
Who ever said money won't make you happy was broke.
Oh the gas prices was rape 4 bucks a gallon getting maybe 2 laps a gallon well.......
Did not get my check-out run on vid as i ran out of memory but,i am officially up to Blue

Nice driving, looked like a nice day at the track. I would love to take that Ariel Atom out on the track.
I agree with your comment about money: Money does not make you happy, but it allows you a lot more time and resources to do the things you love.

Here is day 2.I felt my Trail braking had improved as i was starting to do it naturally and not having to tell myself.
Again the weather was spectacular.

It happens. The ones I spoke with that had STIs changed over the winter to other cars... sports cars, dedicated track cars, two-seaters with rear-wheel drive.
I'm sure the Subies will be back in greater numbers once the season really gets going.

MId-july Watkins...you better be there...

Be good,
TomK

NASA and PDA have partnered and offer events together, so yes...it was a NASA event.

Good to hear you'll be there in July.... stop by andsay hello... I'll be there with a red Lotus Elise (STI track-car replacement...STI is now my daily driver).

Alex... no worries, if you want perhaps we can load it up from my computer on Youtube.

Be good,
Tom K
