What's different? 2.0 versus 2.5 rated at the same horsepower? Anything else?

Thank you. People tend to think there exactly identical which they are not, but whatever. This vid is with stock cars and no serious car person is going to keep their car stock.

Ok, so you know the differences? Nobody else seems to... what are they?

Engine in the Subaru... 2.0 versus 2.5 US engine, both rated at the same horsepower, and from what I've read they both post the same 1/4 mile numbers.

What else is different? Is the JDM EVO WAAAAY slower than the USDM EVO?

They are lighter and have better suspension. Like I said before in this thread the roads over there are really nice. Because of this they dont need to soften up the suspension like they do for the crappy roads over here in the US.

The JDM Evo IX and USDM Evo IX are extremely identical. People call the USDM Evo IX the JDM EVO because it has all the JDM goodies that the USDM VIII never had like better suspension bigger turbo lighter BBS forged wheels and MIVEC.

I've road in many many STIs with stock coilovers and they ride much nicer then my IX did with stock coilovers. I have since upgraded my coilovers and they ride smoother and are tighter then stock.

Again these comparisons are pretty pointless IMO because how many of us are going to leave are cars stock?

...and like I said before, the suspenion on the cars you see in the video is likely the very same suspension you get on the car in the U.S.

Comparing stock versus stock is the basis for automotive journalism. Yes, we get our hands on them and we modify them, at which point comparison becomes difficult.

Point here is... both cars are roughly equally capable. On one day one's faster, on another day the other is.

One reason the 2.0 is better is because the top end is better. The extra .5l of displacement causes the USDM stis to suck on the top end. Power drops of quite a bit on the stock turbo because the 2.5 needs more air then the 2.0 and the small usdm sti turbo can't keep up.

Ever notice that in the best motoring vids or whatever the sti sticks right with the evo on the top end? The usdm stis could never do this because they lose a lot of power on the top end where evos no matter if its jdm or usdm keep making power all the way to redline.

This is because Evos have bigger turbos and a 2.0. People that put a 2.3 stroker on an Evo with stock turbo ALWAYS run out of breath on the top end. Makes power faster and quicker but just can't hang on the top end. Same with STI's.

Wow you are not as smart as I thought. Guess you know nothing about power bands then.

Peak horsepower is nice for braggin rights but if your making it at 4k and it drops from there then its not to impressive which is why same power an Evo will out run an STI on the top end even if they make the same peak horsepower.

STIs make great low end and mid range power...better then the Evo but the Evo has the better top end. Which is why many say the STI is the better daily driver (I agree) and the Evo is the better track car.

The STi vs. Evo is a driver's race. Period. No driver is alike and no lap is alike, for that reason racing between these two cars stock vs. stock is a driver's race, it always has been and always will be. I have never lost to a stock Evo (including when I was stock) or a lightly modded Evo because it is a driver's race. Playing fanboy for either of the cars just shows immaturity.

I don't get why some people just can't grasp this simple concept: pick which car you like. I picked the STi over the Evo because it just felt right to me, it felt like it had soul, whereas I never felt that out of any Evo I've ever driven. Arguing over these two cars is pointless.

Nope going to be at my girls house.

Anyone in the area I'd be willing to run including STI's with aftermarket turbos 20G max which is a bigger turbo then my car has stock. Mind you I have very light mods.

Come on anyone from Agile want to step up? I'm always in that area on the weekends usually.

I Definitely smell excuses lol How many opportunities do you get to see your girl, as to racing someone to prove a point you stand by where as others dont... So this way we can find out.
