| Iron Fisted | It really isn't that hard to get the tail loose on an STi. It just takes some ballz, and be prepared for those front wheels to grab. It's completely different from RWD in that sense. It is, however, pretty dumb since you payed for the awd technology to grip... |

| STI Driver | you have to learn to use the ebrake, i have 3 right corners into my neighborhood that are perfect for this, its all about how you swing your ass out into the turn that tells how well and easy you slide, but ya be prepared right as you let off on power that you jerk from sliding to griping going in the direction your cars facing and just read right above me "It is, however, pretty dumb since you payed for the awd technology to grip.." i see it the other way, i love how i can whip it almost as hard as i can and as soon as i let off the pedal i can get grip immediately giving me more control over the drift. imo |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Getting the tail loose is easy, keeping it out is the hard part. But since that's an '04/'05 model that doesn't have the mechanical center diff in addition to the DCCD electronic locker all he has to do is manually set the center diff to full open, and pull the parking brake up one click to make absolutely sure the center diff doesn't lock at all. Set up like that, as long as the rear tires are spinning, the front wheels are getting no torque. But, the second the rear tires grab the fronts will get power. This works because the car's torque split is 35% front, 65% rear, so the rear tires spin up first. I'm willing to bet that's what he did, because the rear tires are spinning like crazy and it doesn't look like the fronts are doing much. Also, theoretically, you can yank the front axles out of the car and manually set the center diff to 100% lock and all the power will go to the rear wheels. The DCCD computer will go bonkers and you'll lose the auto feature because the front ABS sensors are going "WTF???", but since the front axles are out it's not like you'd need that feature anyway. |

| Junior STI Driver | It's also very possible he has one of these (http://www.neetronics.com/neet/) installed. They seem to have taken off everywhere except here in North America (excl. Quebec). A friend of mine manufactures them and they're on backorder because he can't make enough of them fast enough for the Australians, Europeans & Asians. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
