This is what I do all day long and its great. As a tech I get paid .6 hours of pay for every inspection that takes all of 15 mins to do. Its worth the discount I get on parts alone.

I'm surprised their is any sympathy for this guy on this site. Jerks like this are the reason why most cars even need warranty work. Yeah its boring and repetitious but, that car is a major investment to another person. And if it weren't for subaru opening that plant in indiana this clown wouldn't even have that job he hates so much. His attitude is the same reason why the american car companies are all but out of business. Crap attitude, Crap workforce, Crap product, Crap sales. Greedy executives= Out of the car game. Here's a perfect place for that bull$hit line , oh how does it go again?? Oh yeah, american pride. Well there it is for ya alive and kickin. I'm just glad this POS is nowhere near an STi line.

Rigggghhhht, because I bet a Japanese, English or German person doing this same job goes to work everyday smiling about how he/she can be the difference! Yay!

Right. I'm pretty sure after a while that you, me or anyone else would get tired of the job. Nice way to judge him as a POS just because his job is boring and repetitive. I guess you're just the modern day equivalent of Carnegie, though, so everyone else sucks.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to sound elitist, but anyone who complains about a job that requires "only" a high school education has little room to complain. There are a lot of people who make it without the college degree, but I imagine they have some talent or have developed a special skill, and have an amazing work ethic that has allowed them to achieve a better job with less formal education, and great job to them for doing it. However, I get tired of getting attitude from the guy behind the counter at McDonalds when I walk in wearing a suit, put out my wallet to pay, and have to listen about how much he hates his job or how he can't wait to get off work, like it's my fault I am in the position I am in and he's in the position he's in. We all have a chance to better ourselves, whether we do or not is up to us. That being said, I served in the military with a great group of people, many of whom were had only a high school diploma and I would never think less of them. Many serve our military to get money for college and I admire that. Also, someone make the comment that any job that deals with working on a car would be cool, and I agree but might not want to do it forever. The guy in the video in question obviously doesn't like his job, and if that is the case he should look for another one, but I'm sure there is little he can do that is going to afford him the lifestyle he desires nor pay as much as the job he has now and by the way seems to have little respect for. I'm sure there is a list of people who would love to take his place and would do the job happily. His lack of respect for his job, the and customers who will ultimately drive the vehicles he inspects is what is the worst part about the video. He doesn't take his job seriously and some of those vehicles may have trouble down the road that could have been prevented had this guy taken his job seriously and done the job right. As Subaru owners we should all agree on that point. I think a college degree is just a stupid piece of paper, but I worked my butt off to get that stupid piece of paper because some employers want to see my stupid piece of paper from XYZ school! That does help me get my foot in the door, and ultimately helps me get a better job with more pay. But hey, looks a Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates... no college degree and they will make in a day what it takes my a lifetime to make! Go figure!

I actually toured the Porsche factory in Stuttgart Germany a few months ago, and everyone there seemed to be having a pretty good time, however, they get a ten minute break every couple hours (there is a complimentary coffee bar for their use during breaks), and hour for lunch in what smelled like a very good cafeteria (they have tv monitors throughout the plant that have different screens including one at 11:30am showing the days menu!) Not to mention they are working on Porsches... perhaps that makes a difference! As to the Japanese work ethic they as a people take great pride in doing a good job knowing that they are part of a team and their contribution however small is reflected in the final product.

I didn't watch the video and I'm sure the guy's probably a tool, but don't rip on people without HS diplomas or GEDs by saying that is why he is how he is. I've met plenty of college graduates with no direction in life working dead end jobs. I stopped paying attention in HS so I could go out and deliver pizza and ride my BMX bike. Yeah poor decision at the time, but now with no education I'm still an IT Manager for an international gaming company making as much as, if not more than the general population of college drunk-monkeys. Common sense > Paper smart any day of the week.

EDIT: I just realized this thread went 3 pages and I wasn't the first to comment on the ignorant post... I guess I'm the ignorant one, /shrug. My general opinion remains the same though, watch y0 mouf sucka! (lol)

That mirrors my time in a factory in Austria that builds AWD and other systems for Euro mfger's - they also assemble RHD and Euro Jeeps/Minivans (which is why I was there working on RHD Jeep ZJ diesels)

The assemblers were MUCH better on average than the US counterparts. We were running pre- production prototypes and their help was invaluable in fixing the myriad of assembly and fitment issues.

By contrast - in the US I got 2 typical responses - the first usually when I tried to initiate a fix of some sort followed by the second after failure occurred.
1. Leave me alone or I'll call the union.
2. I'm not the f&*%^(&*&)( engineer - you fix it!

Yeah I guess I must be, cause my job is awful. But I still take pride in what I do and do the best I can, why, cause I get paid to do it. Not a lot but enough to keep me there. And until I find something more interesting to do, I'm happy. Notice I didn't say pays more because I think I deserve to be a millionaire. I have a very high level of pride in what I do, and most other people do to. This guy and yourself (evidently) fall into the "I deserve more cause I exist." frame of mind. Also a$$clown I don't remember saying everyone else sucks anywhere in my post. I didn't make it a point to go to work and make a video of me demonstrating how little I care about what I do. And yes I do like to feel that I've made a difference. I bet your a blast to be around at parties.

the room and the shot....he seems to be talking to someone that is no longer with him. He is deffinitely sad and depressed about something, it might be someone that died or maybe he just got dumped. anyway at the end of the video the shot he says "cheers to whatever we used to toast to.....wish you were here"

subaru is non union, "American" car companys are union. and dont blame the American workforce. blame the big wigs that have to keep investors happy by building everything to a price. not the people that put in the screws. those are fine its the parts that suck.

have i started a union/non-union debate. whoops
