| Authorized Vendor | Guys - at this point in time this is simply a gauging interest thread, not a for sale thread. I'm putting it here as I'm not really sure where else to put it (mods, sorry about that). Here's the deal - AST is making a move back into the US. You may recognize AST as the makers of such setups as the Whiteline G4s and the dampers for the Litchfield T-25. Part of AST's plan for moving back into the US market is that they have a new master distributor over here. That master distributor will be warehousing, servicing, rebuilding and revalving the AST products. Over the past few months we've been talking with them, working things out, and basically arranging for getting things for the Scoobies. One of the first things that we really started to pursue from the beginning of all this is Type-25 setup. After careful talks between us, the new master distributor and AST, they have agreed to supply us with the Type-25 damper setup with the springrates that Litchfield uses. Now, there's a few things you need to know about the Type-25 setup. 1) It is NOT a track only setup. It's what we call a Sunday/Monday setup. Race on Sunday, drive to work on Monday. 1a) I know this is coming so I'll cover it now. Revalve and respring. We have a number of things in the works for higher rates so you'll be money ahead in getting a stiffer setup out of the box when we bring those over. 2) Because of this S/M setup it has pretty compliant spring rates. 3) We don't agree with the rear spring shape. The Litchfield spring expands at the top to use the stock top hat. We will be matching the rate, but using a barrel spring with an upper perch. The reason for this is flexibility for other hats on the market that you may want to use. Please note - they will still work with your stock hats. 4) Pricing - believe it or not these will not be as expensive as you might think. I will not state price until we start the GB, but we think you'll be rather surprised. So, my question is this - if we were to offer a group buy on these would there be enough interest to make it worth while? This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Platinum Member | Oh... my... god. I'm in. Subscribed! The Type-25 is without a doubt the most neutral handling STi that I've seen across all the videos on the net that I've run across. Man, I've been looking for a good setup to get away from the stock dampers!! |
