IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | OK guys, I've been getting PM'd for the last serveral weeks with folks waiting to be able to reserve there spot on the non existing pre-order list for the revised MadDad(TM) Velocity V2 Header/Uppipe. Well here you go. First off, be aware that I dont suspect we will have these shipping until the end of July, maybe even slightly later due to additional new projects/parts being shipped at the same time as these. As is the case with every group-buy/pre-order we've ever done, you WILL NOT BE CHARGED until we ship to you. You WILL NOT be notified before you are charged so be sure that you cancel your order if you needs/requirements change prior to shipping. We will post to this thread with significant updates, such as the boat left, the boat arrived, tied up with customs....you get the idea. To recap, the MadDad(TM) Velocity V2 Header/Uppipe is a significant upgrade to the origonal MadDad(TM) Velocity V2 Header/Uppipe that we have resold for the past year. The unique uppipe incorporates a velocity stack that helped maintain low-end despite the origonal designs 48mm bore uppipe. For the new V2 we had a new velocity stack uppipe done in 45mm to increase the low end torque and make for faster turbo spool. We have a car heading for the dyno on the 25th of this month with it's 48mm uppipe being replaced with the 45mm so we will post results as soon as we have them. We're quite confident the 45mm uppipe will yield excellent results over the 48mm. The other significant change for the V2 is the incorporation of an EGT bung(not an 02 bung) pre-fitted for the most accurate EGT gauge readings close to the exhaust port on cyl.#4. This will make installing your EGT gauge as simple as installing a boost gauge and save you the expense of taking your header and having a local shop drill and tap your manifold after the fact. Having this done at the time of manufacture is a much better solution since the header is then fully deburred and cleaned better than what you would get an an after-the-fact EGT bung install. The fitting is 1/8NPT but you can easily adapt this to what ever you need with an adapter. The pre-order has an option to add a MadDad V2 Rx or Ti series EGT gauge to your order for a silly discounted price as well. Hey, you might as well make use of that EGT bung. The Pre-order is only $449.95, plus standard freight. This is the only time you will see it at this price. The revised resale is $599.95 The last customer that had their header tapped for an EGT bung, it ran them close to $85. Going through quality stainless steel is more work than tapping the factory cast manifold which is softer. Figure that cost the your saving and you will realize just how great a deal this is. If you don't already have a catless uppipe then the deal becomes borderline silly and should be an absolute no brainer, but even if you do have a catless uppipe, this $449.95 deal is still the best header deal in town, period. The Pre-order is limited to 25 sets and I have a feeling they will sell through rather quickly. We have a number of resellers coming on board in the 2nd half of 2006 and the rest of our incoming are reserved for them and for standard resale pricing units so order now. With the revised uppipe and EGT bung we think this is the best unequal length header choice around. I'll post some customer dyno charts from the origonal design soon. With the new uppipe we can only expect a nicer curve. This is an unequal length header and will retain all of your boxer rumble glory. Also fitment to the STi requires some minor trimming(or bending back) of the passenger side subfame so it doesn't rub under vibration/load. There are many that have the origonal design installed and can attest this a rather minor issue and sounds like a bigger deal than it is in reality, but it's important that we point it out to set the correct expectation. A complete high quality 5-layer metal gasket set and uppipe studs are included. PRE-ORDER DIRECT LINK The photo shows a final production ready V2 Header/Uppipe. The inlet pictures show the EGT bung and the velocity stack in the uppipe. A complete 5 layer metal gasket set is included as well as uppipe studs. We also stock extra 3 bolt uppipe gaskets if ever needed. ![]() These pics show more clearly where the EGT bung is fitted. ![]() This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Professional STI Racer | So this wasn't designed strictly for the STi? I'm guessing it wasn't judging by the fitment. I want to jump on it, but I would love to see dyno numbers before and after, and exactly how hard it is to get it to fit in the STi. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | Sorry for the late replies, I was called out of the state suddenly on Monday, got back late Friday, but have been quite sick, so I'm just getting back into the swing of things. STiSpeed - That's correct, the origonal design was test fitted to a standard WRX. The manufacturer that builds this for MadDad builds for a couple of other well respected brands all of which have identical fitment. There are numerous threads in regards to the origonal version with the 48mm uppipe. Fitment for this revised V2 setup will be identical since the manifold itself only has the change of the added EGT bung. Once I catch up on things I'll paste in a couple of links to threads of interest/review with dyno charts. Sinister redlines - There is no question in if. Our order is in and we expect delivery the later half of August. I haven't done a full count in the last week but I think we have roughly 14-17 orders in hand right now out of 25 reserved at the pre-order price. Rich |

| Grassroots STI Racer | No worries, I think I am in on two sets of these, but I noticed that I may get a break if I order gauges. What kind of deal is available? I am interested in the Ti gauges (three pack) and of course on both cars. (dont ask becuase I will look whipped, "the wife enjoyes her car as much as I do"). |

Or will we still have subie rumble? Ooooops.... It says unequal length at the end.. Last edited by STi05'; 06-28-2006 at 12:46 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | what kind of stainless is used? Is it the higher quality that can withstand higher heat? There was a post on this earlier involving the APS vs. Gruppe-S headers... |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | Sorry for the late replies, life has been rather extra buzy lately. The header is T304 stainless throughout(including flanges). Over the past year and a half we've never had a failed/cracked header and we do have a number of guys that track their car every weekend. Not sure how else to comment on the subject. If one day someone has a legic issue it would be taken care of quite swifty. Got word earlier this evening the shipment will be leaving around the 7 or 8th so we should see the order at our door around first week of September, maybe the tail end of August. While we haven't posted it yet, we have a great new catless bellmouth coming on the same order. I'll be posting a pic of the bellmouth soon to show how it compares to what is already on the market. Pre-orders will be taken for just $219 - oh yeah !! Rich This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
