IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | Photos of the current SuperWhite LED versions. Same face design for the Amber production. ![]() ![]() ![]() There is an amber Water Temp sample shown in this photo alongside the SuperWhite. ![]() MadDad(TM) Clarity Series 52mm Gauges - These new 12 point LED backlit performance gauges were just released in a SuperWhite LED backlit face and we have production of Amber units to match the lighting for STi owners shipping to us late next week. We produced these gauges because we simply could not find a set of performance gauges that were attrative, performed well, and we're reasonably priced. While some folks like all of the extra features some more expensive gauges might offer(such as peak functions and memory playback), we found there was a serious gap between the more expensive sets with the extra features and the low end units which unfortunatley often ended up too low end, meaning poor backlighting at night due to the convential incandescent bulbs, cluttered face designs, poorly calibrated mechanical boost gauges(this is the number one reason we sought out our own gauges. We were sick of the returns on some particular other brands). With that background in mind here is what MadDad(TM) Clarity gauges offer. * Patent pending 12 point LED backlighting - Clarity Series gauges use a patent pending 12 point LED backlighting system that has 8 LED's around the face dial and 4 separate LEDs lighting the gauge needle. This allows the gauges to offer an easy to read LED backlit display 100% of the time even in direct sunlight without the display washing out and the most crisp low light display you've ever seen. When you shut off your car Clarity Series gauges do a 100% black out - very trick ! There is nothing in the price range of Clarity Series guages that comes anywhere near the display quality. NOTE: we've sampled many gauges from many fanufacturers. We know of some gauges that look identical to these that usee 8 LEDs in total rather than 12. So while you might see a gauge that looks the same on the outside it may not look the same when you see it in full sunlight since the contrast will not be as strong. * Clean face design - A thoroughly modern face with no frills and a clean sans serif font combine with a 270 degree needle sweep with consistant scaling. * Separate Wiring terminals - Each Clarity Series performance gauge has a separate wiring terminal on the back of the gauge. Rather than having the wiring "hard wired" into the gauge housing, each gauge uses a separate wiring harness that "snaps" onto the back of each gauge. This makes installation easier as you can wire everything without having to deal with the gauges flopping around as you coordinate your wiring setup. When done just plug into each gauge and your done. In addition, each wiring harness has a thick protective shielding over the wiring itself, another clue as to the overall quality and attention to detail. * Quality Sending units - Electronic Oil Press. guages come with high quality sending units. EGT gauges come with fully braided(unlike some K probes that are only partially protected) K probes and a fitting kit. * Imperial Units - Boost and Oil Pressure in easy to read PSI, and EGT in Fahrenheit. * Extended Range EGT - Most EGT gauges give you 1600 or 2000 degree range. Clarity Series EGT have an extended 2200 degree range. * Best Value ANYWHERE - Don't be fooled by scare tatics(they can't be any good they don't cost enough) used by vendors that are pressured by the value proposition MadDad(TM) Clarity gauges bring to market. These gauges are currently sold in Europe and Japan under various private labels for $450+. Because we deal not with a distributor but with the factory that manufacturer the gauges themself, we can offer these gauges for a price that seems totally wrong. * Best Warranty ANYWHERE - All MadDad(TM) products carry a standard 2 + 2 warranty. That's 2 years + a 2 week money back gaurantee, even after you've installed them and used them. No competing brand will allow that. MadDad(TM) Clarity Series STi Boost, Oil Press and EGT gauges have a separate gauge total price of $399. Pre-Order Special is ONLY $299. That's not a misprint. That is $100 off the standard individual gauge prices. There are 20 sets maximum available at this price. Pricing will be pulled when 20 sets are purchased or November 5th, which ever comes first. We already have 6 orders from posts elsewhere so don't delay. Individual Gauge Pricing (not available until the Pre-Order Group buy is over) Boost : $99.95 Oil Press: $139.95 EGT : $159.95 CLICK HERE TO PRE-ORDER FOR $299.95 HOW DO PRE-ORDERS WORK AT DADDY'S SCP Good question. When new MadDad(TM) products are introduced to the market we will often offer a pre-order special buy. This is different from a group buy in that there is no minimum quantity that is needed. Instead there is a maximum number of spots available and then we shut it down. Pre-orders that are placed ARE NOT CHARGED A PENNY UNTIL WE SHIP THE PRODUCT TO YOU. That is another big difference. Most group buys will charge you either a portion or all of the purchase amount up front. We don't charge a penny until we ship to you. - Rich ....and just wait till you see the announcement/pre-order on our new MadDad(TM) nICE TMIC. This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | I'm interested for sure. I'd really like oil temp instead of oil press, when does this come out and can I include this in the preorder, vs. oil press? I might have missed it, but all of these gauges are electronic, not mechanical, right? |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | Hi folks, Sorry for the late replies. I'm trying to get a bunch of things done before heading out to the SEMA show tomorrow so that last couple of days have been a bit hectic and I won't be around again till the the weekend. Boost is mechanical, Oil Press is electronic(with quality sending unit) and EGT is of course electronics, with a full braided K probe. I've had a PM or two in regard to mechanical vs. electrical on the Boost. The advantage of mechanical of course is cost. Electrical boost gauges tend to run anywhere from $150 - $250 depending on what your buying and what the value added feature set is(peek hold, memory playback). Electrical boost gauges usually self calibrate when turned on vs. a mechanical which relies on it's initial calibration. On the plus side you'll always know how your mechanical gauge is calibrated when the car is off(though you'll need to flash some light on the face since they do the black-out). Electrical boost gauge performance can be effected by bad grounding/power since they rely on an electrical sending unit to convert the vac/pressure into voltage. I well calibrate mechanical boost is can be just as accurate as an electronic. A poorly calibarated one will be just that. Part of the reason for persuing these gauges were because we could offer a complete set for an excellent value while providing a very good quality setup. It's unusual to be able to get a mechanical boost guage in a design that uses the lastest LED backlighting technology. If you had to source the same type of LED backlighting on something offered in an electrical you will be paying at least another $100 so this trio same lots of sense to me. I was very pleased with multiple sample units of the mechanical boost gauge before we commit our first order. In my past experience with a certain other brand(very well known) that offered a mechanical boost gauge, about 1/3 were so far off that you simply would not install them. I was sick of it so we set out to source/manufacturer our own. Oil Temp will be available in the first quarter of 06. We'll be bringing them in in all colors(were working on Green as well). The $299 special is just for the trio we have today. My recommendation is buy that set and sell off the Oil Press. Someone is bound to take it for $50 or so. If you buy the full set today and want the Oil Temp when they are available we will offer a similiar discount for you. The ETA on delivery right now is that we are expecting them to ship sometime late this week(to us) so figure end of 2nd week of November before we ship to customers. Remember, even if you place an order, your not charged until we ship to you. - Rich |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | Ese, The gauges don't sweep if I've read the info correctly (on nasioc and from what Rich PMd me). For the boost, it definitely doesn't sweep since its mechanical. As for single mount, with this pkg includes the gauge mounting cups as per Nasioc : Remember folks. Your GB also is getting you 3 of our new 52mm single gauge cups that are very slick. Most of you will want the full clock pod or similiar. You can sell off the free gauge cups and this deal becomes even sweeter. We will be selling those cups separately for $24.95ea. in the future. If you look on their website the white gauges are sitting by themselves and I believe these are the single mounting hardware (similar to Defi's mounting hardware). If you don't like this, then both Autometer and Subiegal have a single gauge pod. I'd go for the Subiegal one since it's fiberglass and looks really sharp. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | http://www.subiegal.com/for%20sale/for_sale.htm This is the pod I was talking about. Also, here is a guy that installed a Defi gauge using the basic mounting solution, which I believe to be similar to the MadDad basic mounting system. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (8) | I'll post pics of the universal 52mm mount cups that are included in the pre-order at no charge. I have mounted in Autometeer A-Pillar(dual to triple). ATi clock pods(by far the nicest clock pod out there) and ATI ePod (shown in one of the origonal photos). Any 52mm mount will work. The do the full Defi-Link style black out when off. 91TB78 has the details correct regarding sweep. Gauges will be available separately when the pre-order is over if there are any units left available. Here is a photo of two gauges installed(in this case the SuperWhites) in an ATi ePod which replace the top cover of the steering column with two adjustable(full tilt and swivel) mounts. This shows what the gauges look like when powered off. Full Defi style black out. ![]() Installed in an Autometer A-Pillar(also shows full sunlight direct on gauge. No image wash out.) ![]() This is my last post till Saturday, heading to SEMA(hopefully to find more good stuff for your STi's). - Rich Last edited by daddysscp; 10-31-2005 at 10:38 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | Rich, I know you won't reply back until after SEMA, but could you go in detail how the oil temp will read temps? Is it going to be an oil pan reading or galley plug reading? Thanks, Todd |
