They're still covering their butts I guess. We'll when I'm ready for a block it's either cobb, gruppe-s, or I'll peice together my own setup.

Cobb has great support as well as reliability, though I can't help but drool over Gruppe-S' GS700 Stage 3 setup

Actually, it is very difficult to honor a warranty when Amit (520hpSTi) never purchased the 2.8 from us, he bought it second hand.
In any event, we have always tried to help find out what exactly happened by asking for measurements or pictures and even to have the motor sent back. None of that ever happened.
Not sure how everyone can expect us to warranty anything, in a situation like that. Seriously, we were never even given a chance to help resolve anything.

I am a little shocked at the responce this post has drawn. My future plans included the S3L block for even bigger turbo upgrade from the FP red down the road. I dont think crawford is going to make the same mistakes again so I still plan on going with the S3L from them.

You can get the same thing from Cobb. They can build their engines with the longer rod, actually I think their website says they prefer to build them with the long rod. Plus I think Cobb has had a much better track record with customers.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
I would like to think that everyone makes mistakes. It’s rather if you chose to learn and go forward with them that really make up the difference. In our case, we reviewed which things we felt could be done better and chose to move in that direction. Of course there will be people who will not believe us, but then again there will be people who do. In time, we all can look back upon this as a very good learning experience for us
Thanks again.

I was thinking just about the same thing. If a company messes up but wants to stay in business, it will have to work twice as hard to rebuild its reputation compared to its competitors. Crawford was my number one pick until all this crap occurred. Now I am not so sure and have been looking at Axis and GruppS. I have not wriiten them off completely yet, but plan to see what people continue to experience. I hope they can produce excellent reliable motors with service to back things up - after all, competition benefits us all, even if your buying from someone else.

Wow...wanted to read about Crawford's new motor and walked into a mob.

Chris, what's this motor based on... STi 2.5 block?

Also, I have an unrelated question: I'm getting a used EJ22T based 2.65l R3 short block (with worked over Spec C heads). What RPM is the R3 comfortable revving to?

Thanks!
Russ

Russ,

Thanks for the questions: Yes, this motor is based off the 2.5 Sti Block

Certainly it helps to have a stout block when revving high. But do not think that it is an absolute. We have hit 8-8.5k on all of the blocks here. Proper tuning, the a/o seperator and the block all help to keep the motor up on the revs and live long.

Chris
