i.e. using the 52 lb/min GT30R with the .63 exhaust housing. If this is possible, i've found my new turbo.

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | ill be upgrading to this http://www.fastwrx.com/gtspeqleexma.html plus the ATP twin scroll turbo. Fabbing the dual external wastegate & up pipe flange wont be too expensive.....probably save about 2k vs the automaster or aps kits. Id go with the automaster though, but i already have a rotated set up, and wouldnt wanna spend any more then i already have. Im sure it'd work nearly the same |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | the choke that most of these companies have...which is marketing anyway (can u say PS3) is the up pipe. aps nor automaster will sell you the header/uppipe by themselves yet. I doubt that would be anytime soon anyway. They'd loose money on it. Once someone does that, the price of the "kit" will come down because people who already have rotated set ups who just want to up grade to a twin scroll (like me) would be pretty much forced to go with a packaged deal. lets break it down. a twin scroll turbo is about 1500 (ATP). the up pipe & header..realistically should be no more then 1200...and thats high balling it. and a DP is what?...350 bux max? That adds up to about 3k right there. 5 grand is alot of dough..esp when u consider you have to go out and buy the intake, IC and piping...along with a wastegate & BOV. That adds another 2k on top of it, and im not even factoring in the fuel upgrades & tuning....Rediculous. I dont care how pretty a header is, its proven (by gruppe s etc) that well made headers arent that expensive to manufacture. If anything, a twin scroll is easier to fab because of the separate exhaust runners on each side arent collected at the up pipe header side. I paid 5k for my t3/T04s kit from Ultimate Racing. That came with the turbo , IC piping , wastegate and BOV. I hit full boost at 4k..pretty damn good for a single scroll journal bearing turbo btw. the Twin scroll deal is all hype....might be better then a single, but not at the price companies are dealing it for. People who spend their cash on these kits are the same folks that'll spend 1500 bux on a ps3. Maybe its just me, but i value the money i make. Just to have the "latest & gratest" isnt worth IMO the inflated price u pay. |

"Components: - AMR Twin Scroll Equal Length Header - Custom Built GT30R or GT35R (customers choice) (turbocharger comes with a custom designed twin scroll entry exhaust housing) - Custom V-BAND Flanged Downpipe - AMR 46mm Wastegate - Custom Wastegate Atmospheric Dumptube - Custom BIG MAF Intake System - All Bolts, T-Bolt Clamps, Gaskets and Hardware" So first off the information you provided is not correct, and 2nd your complaing about how they wont sell a product because "they will lose money on it" well of course, its a business not a charity. Its nice that you are able to do alot of the work yourself, the fabbing and what not, but remember the headaces and issues you may run into, and not to mention the fact that what your doing has not been tested, its your own version, so who knows how it will perform. The AMR kit has been used and tested, over and over. When i tried to buy the kit from them in june of this past summer, i had to go on a list and i couldnt even get in their shop until september because it was so long. But i guess you are just smarter than everyone else on that list, and the guys at Automaster. People that buy these dont just buy the kit because its "the latest and greatest" they buy it because it produces good results, because Automaster produces nothing but top quality products. Quote:
BTW- I bought the 360, not the PS3 :-P Last edited by ITSASTI; 12-02-2006 at 08:03 AM.

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | my bad....if u buy from UR you do get the dump tube DP & all gaskets. They are quality btw. NO header needed according to my tuner with my set up. Im sure yours is great. so whats the spool up at? 3500? lower? I have to disagree with you on the latest & greatest. At least where i live (socal) thats how it is. And im sure its the same everywhere else. Everyone wants to one up eachother. Basically its a "hey my shlong is bigger then yours" type of deal. No im not gonna say im smarter then anyone, but all the "custom" work that ANY shop does can be duplicated ALOT of places. I dont weld or fab anything, but i know alot of good shops (its called research) in my area, that would undercut prices alot. If you want to spend 9k vs 7k or less for 500 extra rpms....im not even talkin about HP/torque #s, then i guess its all good. Its all what youre into. the next guy, in his opinion, for him, to spend 800 bucks on some JDM stuff on his car, is silly to the next. I know its not charity, i never said that. I know companies have to turn a profit or else they wouldnt be around. The difference is, this IS the latest & greatest for our cars. Look at the whole rotated movement in the past 3 years. In the beginning, rotated was the super exotic (for subies at least). Now, every tom. dick & harry company has their own version. Right now twinscroll is at the point where only 2 companys have it, and from what ive seen, its all spin and hype so far. I have yet to see the #'s on ANY twinscroll rotated set up that far exceeds a sinle scroll rotated setup in spool. When i see hard facts...dyno sheets, etc..and depending on Where it is better, then ill be a believer. For the money, it aint worth it. Im sure you're friends with the automaster guys, and any shop will tell ya their stuff is gold. I think the Harman guys where i go are great, and Underpressure (who does my fabbing) are awesome too. You could say the same thing about where i go. "yea who the hell are those guys?" or whatever, The difference between me and you is, is that i acknowledge that they arent the only ones. I dont know automaster, they're your hood... so ofcourse id be skeptical with any company that puts out a new product that i havent seen or heard about...its a defense mechanism. I want to hear from knowledgeable customers first before i jump into an investment i just havent seen alot of stuff from them vs UR/Perrin/Kingpin...the list goes on. So hey guys with the twinscroll set ups.....lets see the dyno sheets! Please! This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad.
