Default Dyno Tested: Deadbolts SZ60= 498hp

2004 STI

Mods: TGV delete, helix 860cc injectors, Walboro fuel pump, Perrin FMIC, 3" turbo back exhaust with no cats, SMC meth inj, Tial BOV, DB SZ60, 6gun oil cooler kit, one step colder plugs, Perrin Big Maf, Topspeed Ecutek.

Run was made at 28psi holding to redline, on pumpgas with meth injection, at the end of the run we were seeing maf voltages of 4.82v.

SAE GRAPH

UNCORRECTED GRAPH

No here is where it gets interesting, this comparison is of the SZ60 vs a rotated GT30r kit. Both cars have identical mods, and both cars were run on pumpgas with meth injection at 28psi. You can see from the graph the stock placement SZ60 spools almost (and I mean almost) as fast but makes a ton more power up top.

GT30r vs SZ60

OK so whats next.... humm lets see how it stacks agains a rotated GT35r. Again both cars have the same mods, and both were run at 28psi on pumpgas and meth. Here you can see that the SZ60 spools faster but doesn't make as much up top as the 35r, which can be expected from the smaller hotside (SZ60). Even though the spool up on the graphs don't look much different, I can tell you that the SZ60 spooled much quicker on the street than the 35r, and on boost response was also much quicker.

GT35r vs SZ60

Enjoy,

Doug

Hmmmm interesting results. I would be interested to see how it compared to the Red as well. Looks like it spools slower than the Red. Makes good power and has good spool though for that big of a turbo.

How much do you estimate this turbo will make without meth? Would a lack of methanol change the curve much?

Why does the 30R dyno pull start @ 3500 RPM's and the SZ60 starts @ 2900 ???

You can't compare the turbo's like that the SZ60 had more time to start spooling. Just imagine if they started @ the same time.

I've rode in a car with a 30R and it out spools my SZ55 same turner, same dyno.

A red hits peek torque just a few hundred rpms slower than a FP green. I should be hitting full boost a tad below 4k.
