| Authorized Vendor | As part of our continuing effort to test the market for parts we'd like to carry we are pleased to bring you guys the "Nothing Special" rotors. We have 2 full sets of these in stock for the 04 STi (we figured the 04 guys were closer to needing new rotors before the 05 guys). Here's the story behind our offering something that really isn't that special. It occured to us that everyone out there is offering multi-piece, slotted, cross drilled, gold plated, kitchen sink included rotors for the STi. Now, there's nothing wrong with that, but what about the price? I mean, come on, have you priced the things? Holy Cow! I'd have to sell the car just to be able to afford the rotors for it. That got us to thinking - where the heck are the nice, normal, boring, plain faced, single piece, perfectly functional, high quality, affordable rotors? We know they exist so we went looking. Believe it or not they actually are hard to find. It seems like everyone at least has slotted, and unless you're racing in the rain or driving through puddles everyday there really isn't even a need for those (and the noise that goes with them). So we started calling our suppliers and asking them about the following criteria: - Nice - Normal - Plain faced - Single piece - Perfectly Functional - High Quality - Affordable Well, the folks at Carbotech stepped up, and delivered. Thus we have the Nothing Special rotors. These rotors are manufactured to OEM spec, and then electrodeposition coated on the hats and vanes to prevent those surfaces from rusting. Of course, we here at TiC can never leave anything alone. I mean, that's just the way we are. We see something and want to take it apart and make it better, but how the heck do we do that to something like these where the entire point is for them to be boring? Needless to say we don't. And that bothered us. Really bothered us. We like to do that little extra. That small oompf that pushes it over the top, and makes life more fun. What to do, what to do.... Needless to say you can understand our conundrum. Then it hit us! Boring rotors, but at an exciting price. BINGO!! We have a winner! | Authorized Vendor | Ok guys - Front Rotors are 22lbs. Rear rotors are 16.5lbs. Like the name says - there is nothing special about these. That's the ENTIRE point behind this. Pics are below. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | I am a huge fan of TIC. HUGE! MASSIVE! However, I have to admit that I was expecting a much better deal than $350 for 2 rotors Why? Well, on Tirerack.com I can get 2 slotted rear rotors (made by Powerslot - halfway good company) for $230. The fronts are $268 for the pair. So .... $498 for a full set of slotted, zinc coated rotors from a decent company (PowerSlot) as compared to $700 for the no frills rotors.t |

What?! That's news to me! I was not aware of that deal. let me go check that out. edit: Crap. You are correct. I can't come anywhere close to those prices as they are less than my cost on these plain faced ones. Let me do some research and find out why they are so cheap. I wonder why they don't have any plain faced ones listed. edit number 2: I do know one thing I don't like about the powerslots. if those pics are accurate they milled the slots right past the edge of the disk. This is a no-no on performance brakes. Last edited by Turninconcepts.com; 02-08-2006 at 12:13 PM. | |
