IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (3) | GTWORX is proud to announce that they are now a Swift Dealer. SWIFT SPRINGS These springs are designed uniquely for each application. The goal for these springs is to maximize the handling performance. While some springs are designed to lower the car, Swift's are designed to maximize the performance without sacrificing the comfort. 252/224 Spring Rate for STI 04 STI has a 25mm front and 20mm read drop 05 + has a 30mm all around drop ------------------------------------------------------------ H5S.TW: Motorsport’s Most Advanced Spring Material Swift made a name for itself on the tracks of Asia and Europe by defying all accepted concepts and speculations about the future, if any, in coil spring science. When everyone else was looking to expensive and brittle titanium composites to create the next evolution of springs, Swift was looking at reinventing the entire science of coil spring dynamics. Swift saw that most others are using the old silicone chrome material which was soft and heavy. It used a tempering method that damaged the strength of the material requiring more coils and, in turn, more weight. The material was also suffering from a short life-span. With springs like this leading the industry, Swift saw room for improvement. Swift’s R&D team created material, called H5S.TW, which was stronger than silicon chrome. It was so resilient that it required 2 rounds of shot peening in order to hold its coil shape and was so strong that it needed thinner wire compared to other manufactures. It also needed fewer coils, which greatly decreased weight while dramatically increasing available stroke. The biggest difference was the consistency of the spring rate (see graph below for comparison of spring rates between Swift and the top 2 motorsport linear spring lines). Every manufacture uses different methods to rate their springs, causing frustration among many racers when they swap brands. Brand A may test the 1st inch of stroke while brand B may test the 3rd inch of stroke. By looking at the diagram below, you will get a clearer picture of how this works.
