| The Next Petter Solberg | why is this car showing -4 wtq than your other sti on the stock turbo? what are your opinions on this turbo kit? it seems that ~40+ whp and less wtq for all those added mods compared to your 302/330 post make it seem like a less than stellar performer. 200+wtq for 3k rpm's 300+wtq for 1200 rpms? 300+whp for approx 2k rpm's maybe this thing will come alive on higher octane or with some form of alky/water/meth injection? |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Okay, I like being positive. Normally I either say good things or nothing at all. But I have no qualms going on record with this: The Greddy T67 is the worst kit I have EVER seen. It is complete garbage for the money: The two 90 degree pipes welded together to raise and rotate the turbo are rediculous. The hotside with outside dimensions almost equal to the STOCK VF39 are rediculous. The 2.5 inch Downpipe is rediculous. The fact that many of these kits require TWO upgrades for wastegate springs to make boost is rediculous. The fact that after EXTENSIVE tuning the best I could get was 398 wph and 370 wlb-ft on 93 octane, and not much more with some high octane added is rediculous. And to top it ALL OFF, HERE'S THE KICKER: The hotside's tend to surface rust. Our customer wanted it to look good so we pulled the turbo and sent it to get coated. After trying a number of other places I called Greddy USA to get the gaskets: Me: "Hi, this is Scott Siegel from Subaru of Gwinnett Performance. I have one of your T67 kits on an '05 STI here and I need to get the gaskets for it." GUSA: "You can't get those gaskets, they only come in the kit." Me: "The turbo was rusting so we pulled it to have it coated and now I need the gaskets." GUSA: "Well it would have to be special ordered from Japan." Me: (phew, I can get them) "No problem, we just sent the turbo out, no rush, cost is no object (owner is a plastic surgeon) I just need to get them on their way." GUSA: "Let me find out, I'll call you back." So I gave them all the info and waited 3 days. No call. I call them back. GUSA: "Yeah they only come in the kit. No way to get them." Me: "So you are telling me that the only way I can get new gaskets is to buy a whole nother turbo kit." GUSA: "Pretty much, you could have them laser cut out of copper." Me: "I work at a Dealership. We do 4 or 5 big turbo kits a month. If you can help me out with this I might suggest using yours." GUSA: "Try turbochargers.com, they might have gaskets." NOBODY IN THE COUNTRY COULD GET ME THESE GASKETS. We actually had ours ported by Deadbolt, and we ran 22 psi on 93 so that explains the extra power over the one above. It wasn't making the power that we thought it should so we tried to get a 10cm housing for it. We ordered the $400 retail 10cm housing. We recieved a whole nother 10cm T67 and a bill for $2800. They told us that if we split that one to get the housing we bought the whole thing. The customer is presently driving it with the 398 whp on 93 octane, but we are going to a SZ55 and meth injection as soon as they are available again. This falls into the NEVER suggest to anybody realm. Anybody want to buy a T67 kit cheap? SS |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Yes I agree with Scott. The kit is not worth the money. You can make so much more with a simple bolt on turbo. The exhaust housing is way to small and the down pipe is 2.5 inches. But the customer wanted it more for looks than power. So I am not one to argue |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | WOW! I havent seen this thread in a while now. BACK FROM THE DEAD! This turbocharger is not one of "MY" favored kits for the STi. I was not impressed with the performance of this turbo especially for a conservative tune. The exhaust housings is way to small. For the money, you could purchase a direct bolt-on turbocharger and out perform this kit. -Rob This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
