Default Aluminum Coolant Tank for Fender/Strut Corner UPDATED PICS 9/15 Last Post

Finally a nice alternative to cleaning up the engine bay and making room for big intakes on rotated setups without ghetto rigging you stock tank to the corner of the fender/strut tower.

I've made a few of these for people and each one varied. I figured I'd make it easy on myself and get some lasered and cnc bent so I can weld them up more efficiently and start getting into more of a standardized production of parts. I see a lot of people just move the stock tanks but it never looks good and hose orientation is never right.

This will have fittings for all the stock lines. I can also make the turbo return to fit the stock turbo hose size or the 3/8" hose size used on rotated setups. As well as weld in bungs for those that like to use AN fittings. The fill neck is going to be a billet machined piece and not some stamped aluminum sheet. There will be a fitting in the fill neck for the over flow.

Basically all 1/8" aluminum sheet all laser and cnc bent. Then tig welded throughout. This is the latest drawing and most likely the final version unless you all hate it. Theres an opposing hole on the bottom from the top hole you see for the drain.

Im also thinking of making an overflow unit that is placed on the other side of the radiator so it completely removes the one that gets in the way of intercooler routing. Let me know what you think about this as well.

Are you doing an overflow unit for my intercooler?

Can you post some pics of the ones you've made before so I can get an idea of where they sit / how they mount?

If this is what I think it is, I'm going to want one.

Heres an older pic of a early rendition which should give you a rough idea. The bracket for the wiring would be removed and be in corner there taking advantage of the stock mounting locations of the strut tower and fender area to mount the tank.

Just an idea, could you recess the top panel down a couple millimeters so it has a lip to contain any coolant spillage like the stock one. Actually the stock one has that and a couple of small drain holes along the lip.

Sorry for late response as I'm currently without a computer right now. Pricing is looking like $150 shipped I think. Still trying to decide if I want to run tubing for attachment points for the coolant hoses or use AN push-lok style fittings which will effect the final price. I'll have a prototype unit next week hopefully to check orientation of the brackets, etc.... and have something better to look at than a cad drawing.
