Default TiC now an SRP distributor!

A while ago the folks over at SRP approached us about taking a look at their products. So we did. And we were pretty darn happy with what they have to offer. So we decided to work out some terms and start to carry their goodies.

Now, for those of you who are wondering who SRP is they make pedals. Racing pedals. These are not bling, slip-on covers, but real honest to goodness bolt on facings. This is ALL they do. Nothing else, just good pedals.

They offer a few different options for finish, but we choose the ones we liked the most to start off with. Those happen to be the Satin and Grid finishes.

As for sets, we opted to start out with 02-07 style, and some new 08 style.

So, here's some pics of the very nice pedal sets that are now available through TiC.

The set we opted to try out on our 08 STi. We offset the pedals to help with the heel and toe work, and Tony has been quite happy with the placement.

02-07 MT kit - comes with gas, brake, clutch and dead pedal

Grid Finish:

08 MT kit - comes with gas, brake and clutch. Due to the dead pedal being glued down to the carpet, and it's pretty nice anyway no new pedal with this one.

Satin Finish:

Grid Finish:

We actually have a great thread on the install of these on our 2008 STi. That thread can be found by clicking here:
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/technica...dals-08-a.html

All of the above shown is now available through TiC and will be soon through any of the great vendors of TiC products.

They should never wear down. They are made from billet aluminum. They would far outlast your car. That being said, if there was an issues with them, we could figure something out.

Yes! I am the first to order. Never could get very smooth heel toe and I'm hoping these will help.
Haven't liked anything I've seen, and haven't run into SRP before. It looks like the soles of my shoes are going to wear out quick.
Any warrenty bleed over for my sneakers?
Will let you guys know how it goes.

So, Tony got to talking about grip from the SRP pedals, and perhaps some way to measure it.

The guys at SRP stepped up and ran a little experiment. Here's the results:

Quote:
After years of explaining to people how much grip our pedals have, I decided to put some numbers on them to make the explaining easier. Also, I was rather curious myself to see how our pedals stacked up against each other and stock rubber pedals. Basically, we mounted the pedals to a steady platform. Next, we put a rubber soled shoe (a Reebok)on top of the pedal. We then applied 28.6 lbs of weight to the pedal. This weight was chosen since it was the weight of a battery we had sitting in the shop, and seemed a reasonable weight for a light pressure stop. We then pulled the shoe off the pedal using a pull scale to measure how much force was required. We then repeated this process for all the pedal types a total of 5 times. The results were remarkably consistent. We then repeated all the tests again 5 times just to confirm the results.

After running the dry tests, we wanted to check the adverse condition traction of the pedals. We decided to use ArmorAll on the pedals as it is extremely slick, as well as easy to apply in the squirt bottle. We applied the ArmorAll to the shoe at the beginning of the 5 pulls, and to the pedal for each of the 5 runs. The results for all the testing is below.

We've been making the GRID style pedals for some time now. I recently started experimenting with the pointy tipped, or Pyramid style, grid pedals. They look very much like the standard GRID pedals, but have even greater traction. After seeing the results of this testing we are going to switch all our GRID pedals over to the Pyramid style grid. It might take some time to update all the pictures on the website.

If that's not some nice data, we don't know what is.

I am very interested in these. Do they bolt over the existing aluminum pedals or do you remove the existing pedal faces and bot the new ones directly to the arm? How secure is the fastening mechanism?

edit: looked at the 08 thread. I see how the brake and clutch are installed. However it looks like the mounting for the gas is different, can you comment on the mounting for all 4 parts on a 2004 STi?

Bump for another question:

Looking at the data the grid pyramid seems to be the best in terms of friction. the SRP website says that due to their coefficient of friction testing, all of the old grid style will be supplanted with the grid pyramid style. So, when we order through the TIC site which lists only grid or satin, which ones will we get?

The Grid style we have are the flat top style. Our next order will contain some of the new style.

For the install, you remove the original pedal faces. The brake and clutch are just rubber pads with metal facings that slip off the pedal structure. For the gas pedal, you take a screw driver and pop off the metal cover off the plastic pedal. The new pedal screws in to the platic pedal with provided screws.

You guys are just too awesome!

I'm excited sorry. I've been really looking for replacement pedal set that functions just like these! I can't wait to get these on and hit the track!

I appreciate the reply.

I will order a set for sure sometime this winter.

Thanks for continuing to either engineer great products on your own and for finding and distributing the best of everyone else's.
