Tarzan Yamada to drive Crawford Performance 2008 Subaru WRX STI at Long Beach Grand Prix

April 10, 2008 - Oceanside CA:

International Drifting and Time Attack sensation, Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada, has been selected to pilot the 2008 Crawford WRX STI Time Attack car at the Super Lap Competition portion of this year’s Long Beach Grand Prix on April 17-20.

Tarzan and his 2008 Crawford WRX STI will be competing with the best Time Attack cars in the nation during the inaugural Super Lap / Time Attack battle (more on Time Attack below*). Having driven Crawford’s Championship 2006 WRX STI, Tarzan is well familiar with the team’s proficiency in honing Subaru performance. When asked about being extended the drive at Long Beach, Tarzan exclaimed, “I’m excited to see what new advancements Crawford has developed for the 2008 WRX STI. This should be a very fun event for everyone involved!”

*Time Attack (alternatively known as Super Lap or Tuner Battles) originated in Japan as a proving ground for street tuned cars built at a large budget by highly respected tuning companies. As a result of the quick rise in popularity, tuners developed cars specifically to beat the competition. Drivers are allocated three laps in a final event run: warm-up, timed and cool-down. Ultimately, the competitor setting the quickest timed lap is crowned Champion.

That being said, Tarzan did a fantastic job in our new car taking second place in AWD the very first time the car set foot on a race track.
