Talking Custom WHEEL CENTER CAPS idea

Hey!
I just got an email from Tom @ Kartboy allowing me to take over his idea about making center caps for wheels that normally dont come with any, or for any wheel in general.

I will be lathe making these by hand, like all my other stuff. Here's a picture of Tom's prototype cap

As you can see, he made a casing to hold the STOCK STI RED/BLACK LOGO BUBBLE. I am going to try to find some of these logo pieces in quantity, but if they are really expensive, I'll need to find another alternative.

Ill be using black copolymer. Itll stand up to the daily grind without any corrosion.
I will be in need of people to stop by so I can measure the wheels they have so I can properly size the cap to fit.
If anyone wants me to use their existing logo caps, I can do that.

Subarugenuineparts has some black/red caps that are $116 for a set, which is going to drive the price of my parts up waaay to high for what these are.

Comments, questions, interest??

What do/will they attach with? I'm assuming tabs would not be plausible.

I'm willing to take measurements of my Advan RGIIs if you're interested.

Wow, really funny. I was just looking at getting center caps that did NOT say STi on them... Do you have now, plans to make, or know of non-STi (or BBS) center caps?

cool idea. Problem is.. there are so many different wheels out there. Are you going to make caps for most of them?

you can always make some plain black coplymer ones, without the sti caps.

and another version that has a cutout in it to insert the customers favorite caps.

all you need to verify is that all existing caps are the same size or not

my buddy that lives nearby has RPF-1s, so I can get measurements off those.

I do not plan to mass-produce these, so I will be able to take measurements from all sorts of wheels so that whenever somebody wants the caps for their wheel, I can pull up the dimensions, cut a set, and ship them out.

These will attach with a rubber viton o-ring so it will press into the wheel housing and stay in place. You'll be able to remove them by pushing straight out from behind.

I can make these with a regular plain black face, or if you have a type of bubble logo already on hand, I can cut the hole to fit those in custom for you.

Almost anything would be possible with this!

a plain black centercap set of 4 will be quite a bit less than an STi or other emblem on the cap. The emblem bubbles will cost me quite a bit to get. Plain black facing is just solid copolymer, so its only labor, material, and o-ring in the cost.

Ill get estimated pricing soon.

Put me down for a set for RFP-1's as well. Pretty ubiquitous wheel, so it seems.

Does the entire OEM center cap snap into the delrin housing or do you have to somehow remove the logo section from the OEM cap?

I guess I need to pull my center caps and check them out.

What measurements do you need from my wheels?

You had to do this after I bought stickers for my rota center caps! I would still be interested to see what you come up with though!
