IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (11) | I am proud to announce that genuine Suede and genuine Alcantara wrapped wheels are on the horizon for everyone. The price point for these will be quite reasonable It it is important to note, however, that for this level of material quality and craftsmanship the price point will not be "cheap" by any means. Nevertheless, we pride ourselves on offering a quality product at reasonable value. We understand the importance of your funds and we only hope to deliver to the level of quality you and your Subaru truly deserve!Unlike many wheels you may find that appear similar or claim to use similar materials our wheels will be backed by a warranty. We do not consider products found on eBay to be of similar caliber. We do not consider companies who claim to use "Alcantara-like" or "Suede-like" materials such as Ultraleather to offer similar quality products. We do not price match to these type of companies. Never settle for inferior products ![]() We happily offer a two year, unlimited mileage warranty on all our products. On occasion, we will extend warranties on a prorated basis if you can prove to us that you maintained your product correctly, following proper care and maintenance. With all of the above out of the way, I would love to see how many IWSTi.com members are seriously interested in a steering wheel. The turn around time is approximately 1 week and I have 1 core (05 STi) wheel. I am on the hunt for more cores, if you have a steering wheel for either 04 or 05+ for sale, please let me know! ![]() ![]() Alcantara vs. Suede The biggest and most important difference in the two materials is UV protection. Suede is not UV protected and as a result will fade in the sun without treatment. You can buy UV spray; however, I cannot say how well it works or how long it may last. There is little "give" in Alcantara. Since suede is leather it stretches and shrinks. So you'll have less "crumpling" in complex corners with leather/suede. For a steering wheel this is beneficial. Nevertheless, a properly wrapped Alcantara wheel will show minimal wrinkles if any. This depends entirely upon the design of the wheel. We do not use suede splits, as the material is far too thin and likely to tear easily. Suede will probably not wear as nice as the Alcantara, as rub zones will wear to smooth patches. Padded wheels are better suited to Alcantara covering. The padding allows the material to lay a bit more flat and even. Additional padding is recommended when choosing Alcantara to reduce/eliminate wrinkles. Cheers, ak This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. | Halliburton Mercenary | Also- could you please post up expected wear results and proper care techniques. You know, is this thing going to stretch out and not conform like the stock leather... pill up... stain... shine? |

![]() All of our leather products (including the wheel should you be so inclined), along with the other leather products in your vehicle should be properly treated every 6-8 weeks with a quality leather cleaner/conditioner. This will make your car's interior last for years, looking like new. Proper care of your leather products will delay the splitting, cracking, and overall wearing out of the leather. It will supply you with an elastic, supple and luxurious interior. We recommend that you clean the the Alcantara regularly, avoiding energetic scrubbing and the use of steaming equipment. There are specific cleaning products on the market for both Alcantara and Suede, however, if you do not have them on hand you can just as easily dust it with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with clean water. Wring it out well and clean all Alcantara fabric, taking care not to wet the upholstery too deeply; dampen the cloth in clean water, wipe again, and allow to dry well overnight. You may then rejuvenate the fabric by brushing it delicately with a soft-bristled brush. In terms of overall durability, stain resistance, and ease of maintenance genuine Alcantara is certainly king ![]() Please remember to never use any silicone-based product, such as Armor All or Son Of A Gun!, to clean your leather products! Silicone-based products look nice initially, but actually shorten the life of any leather product. Silicone based products will split and crack your leather in a short time. Questions, comments or concerns? Please let me know! -alex | |
