Everyone in the chain of distribution is liable for selling knocked off products because each entity in that chain profits from someone else's work. The chain extends from the producer to the point of sale includes everyone in between. If you know or believe that an overseas company knocked off Kartboy, then you should refrain from selling the product and returning it.

The Subaru community is incredibly loyal. Tom at Kartboy was the very first to make Subaru parts when nobody else was. As a result, the Subaru community shows incredible support for Tom and will inevitably boycott your company because of the principals you show when you continue to sell a knocked off product after they have been notified of this.

See above. The COBB isn't original either. I don't see anyone bashing them.
EDIT: I dunno which came first, COBB or Prova. For our purposes, it's irrelevant.
To the best of my knowledge, Cobb has a reciprocal relationship with Prova based on my recent conversations with Trey Coob himself. Trey is a man that would not sell a ripped off product.

Also- I think it is worth noting that the original COBB/Prova design is not 100% known, but sources say that the COBB one came first. It is entirely possible that Prova has licensed Japanese distribution of the shifter.

I guess if we are talking about the same boycotts used against Vivid Racing I dont have much to worry about.

I never had any mal intent and never copied anyones product. I shop a list of manufacturers, look at what they have to offer thru samples and buy the one I feel is the best. I may ask for a change here or there. I have my own list of products I am working on and will release soon. Those are all made in the US and will be unique in their own way. The fact they will directly compete with peoples similar products will problably still get me ripped on the boards. This is business.

If you don't mind, I'd like to see the shifter when you get it in and installed.

quality + service + happy customers too. A business isn't successful unless it makes some sort of profit. if i was bad at it, i wouldn't be in business.

in the customers point of view.... i believe this is a GREAT THING. Yes, there are always the leader and there are followers. If I was positioned as the leader, I would be furious!!! but because of these followers, consumers can buy same products cheaper! Also, because of these replicas and copies, the leader now lower its costs to sell same quantities or develope a better design! hence R&D for better products

It does not really matter which one came first. Trey Cobb and Prova have a good relationship. Just like Trey Cobb's relationship with Cusco.

Prova has even made in conjunction with Trey the AccessPORT in a Japanese version. Prova offers the AccessPORT to their customers in Japan.

I just thought I would shed some light/clear that up.

I am not a kartboy fan boy, yes I have many kartboy products on my car but there will always be parts made based on other parts.

This "Gimmick" piece I believe is 50 dollars and is made in China as they stated, from the only details they will reveal.
I don't think you guys should really get all crazy about it.
Its simple, buy the kartboy piece that is manufactured, R&D'd and on over and installed on how many thousands of imprezas? Or buy a cheap part made in China?

thanks for your opinion.

its up to me to inform on what a product is...quality...service...price etc. customers have CHOICE, thats what im here to provide. choices. so here is another alternative.

The individual reviews will show that these are quality products with lifetime warranties. just because the shifter is made overseas doesn't make it inferior.

omg'z the US has much better metal'z lol. right.

This is quite probably the truth.

However, the issue many have is not the quality, but the fact that the design is copied without license. Again, this happens a lot and has nothing to do with you as a vendor. It's a case of Chinese capitalism being more...unbridled...than ours.
