Including a WRX style shifter I resold for a while that had roller bearings in it but unfortunatly was discontinued. I cant state what the differences are because I dont know much about Kartboy, My measurements I advertise for my shifter were given to me by the actually company that builds it. Nonetheless, as I said on NASIOC, even if the shifter appeared totally different the result would have been the same. I would be accused of masking the product at that point.

Also, just as I said on NASIOC, these shifters were on display by the chinese manufacturer at SEMA so dont expect me to be the only guy selling them. There is no exclusive rights to a part in China so anyone that deals with them can get this shifter. Im just the first which is a bad deal I guess at this point.
why are you so defensive? you have yet to point out differences, or admit that they are one in the same... and i want you to tell me otherwise.

Eh, this happens with our UEL headers all the time.

The two shifters are frighteningly similar, I hope they aren't direct knock-offs because there is a patent on the kartboy stuff..

See above. The COBB isn't original either. I don't see anyone bashing them.
EDIT: I dunno which came first, COBB or Prova. For our purposes, it's irrelevant.

this only came to light as of late and no one is actively selling prova on the boards.

the question is, did cobb license the design? did prova make it first? if no/yes, then shame on cobb. however, i have a feeling that they took the legal route.

That did not seem to be the root of your complaint. Taking someone else's part and selling it for less and/or or taking credit for the design did. Does the fact that COBB didn't tell you up front about the shifter make them better or worse?

Perhaps shooting the messenger/vendor isn't the correct solution to your issue. We all have the same problem with Rota, but the only way to curtail that supply is to curtail that demand. Jumping all over these guys for carrying the part isn't going to change anything.

At the end of the day, all you've accomplished is a lot of drama.

I have a feeling Cobb/Prova have an agreement to sell that part under their respective brands - otherwise, there would definitely be legal repercussion.

I think fullerton and Chaos are pointing out that a Chinese (probably knockoff) product that is eerily similar to a patented Kartboy product is being sold under the Gimmick name.

Now don't pull me into this.

Which is all well and good, but guess what? Shooting down the vendor still doesn't change anything. They're not the only ones who carry it. Don't like it? Don't buy it.

Excellent point. And you made it with a civil tone instead of acting like someone kicked your puppy. I appreciate that.

Now consider that the Vendor ALSO paid to be a part of this site. How would you feel if someone came in here and pissed in your cornflakes instead of being civil?

there has not been a straight answer out of this vendor. first, he claims it is his design and "went far to make it different than the kartboy," then he say he doesn't know the kartboy shifter besides that it is black and that he did not make it.

i have a hard time believing that this vendor did not see this coming. the same thing happened when agency power started ripping off other people's products. they were ridiculed off the forums and now only sell to those who don't know any better or don't mind supporting such a company.

Do not mistake my moderation for an endorsement - I find the idea of copycat parts distasteful, but I'm a realist. You see a market for a cheaper alternative and you're going after it. Capitalism in action. People will buy it, and they probably won't know the difference. As much as it sucks for Tom, it's the way the world currently works. I do not have to like it, but it is my job to make sure things are handled in a civil manner.

Carry on.

EDIT: I've edited irrelevant responses out.
