Thumbs up AMS WRX/STi Timing Belt and Water Pump Special

For the holiday season we are offering a WRX/STi Timing Belt and Water Pump Special.

Normally $809 SPECIAL PRICE $699.99

Includes: ALL OEM Subaru parts.
- OEM Timing Belt
- OEM Tensioner
- OEM Water Pump
- Coolant & Labor

Water pump replacement is recommenced but not required. If you do not wish to replace the water pump the Special Price is $569.99

Subaru recommends replacing the timing belt every 60k miles under normal driving conditions in an unmodified vehicle. For modified vehicles and "spirited" driving styles this should be done more frequently.

Thanks,
Darius

just a little FYI, AFAIK the timing belt change interval on the OEM timing belt is 100k miles, the 60K miles that you are referencing I have only seen mentioned you have the AFTERMARKET STi Competition Timing Belt (p/n ST130284S000) which does not come on the STi's from the factory. I could be wrong, but I would double check your sources...

That's probably true (haven't checked my manual) but like it says on the bottom of the post...

"...under normal driving conditions in an unmodified vehicle. For modified vehicles and "spirited" driving styles this should be done more frequently."

For example...in my Audi 1.8T manual it says you're suppose to change the belt every 90k and it broke at 49.8k.... So don't go by what the manual says if you have any mods or if you like driving "hard".

yea, i just figured i'd point out a bit of mis information, maybe doing it at 60k instead of 100k is a decent idea, but even that seems excessive to me, even on a modified car(as lightly as most people modify them, ie stage 2). They also seem to entertain the idea that it should be done at intervals less than 60k which is completely unnecessary for at least 95% of owners on this board.

Actually he is correct. subaru recommends you check it at 30,60, and 90k and to replace if necessary. But they dont say to replace it untill 105k
although I have always been told 60,000 miles myself, and would actually stick to it because its cheap insurance. better than destroying your heads!!
I just did mine at 29k but thats because I had a failing idler pulley and did not want to chance anything else while I was in there
I also replaced the oil pump with a Cobb high flow pump on top of the water pump, thermostat, and every idler, tensioner, and kevlar timing belt!!
