IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | My guess is thats going to be whoa $. I'm thinking way over $2k. Come guys, looks at how much a CF hood costs. Now try to make it into a bunch of pipes! Here's what I'm worried about. Chime in, lets see what we can dismiss/look into further: 1) I'm wondering about the reliability also. How do you guys think CF is going to hold up when a rock hits it? It's structural integrity is gone at that point, and should be considered a liability and replaced. CF is great stuff for certain applications but can be damaged to be unserviceable very easily. Remember that its a fiber, so once it's "cut" it can lose its strength. If anyone here know about CF structure of bikes, you'll at least see where I'm coming from. 2) What about constant expansion/contraction from heat? This one I'm not sure on, but I'm going to guess CF expands and contracts a large amount with heat. So how would it hold up on a regular, day to day deal? What about the track? So if CF is stronger than I was thinking in number 1, what about when you mix in number 2(heat expansion)? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | ^^^I would think that since the end tanks are usually covered by the bumper (depending on the core size) that reliability from rock chips, etc. would not be a huge concern...although if u did somehow end up with a crack in the c/f it prob. would be the end of the intercooler... Cobb would do good to produce a FMIC regular version with a black core and aluminum endtanks, but offer the piping in CF as an option, as well as a FMIC with the carbon end tanks, that way people could have more options if money is tight... my .02 |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (23) | i would assume that cf would conduct heat at a lower rate than al tmic doesn't have to be cf, just efficient |
