ol' salty has the 04 STi... which i "think" is more prone to the "clunk" that this mod deals with. I installed it as a preventative measure. "just in case". However, i can say that considering how amazing TiC's shifter parts/bushings are ... well, it follows naturally.
My shifts are much smoother during "spirited driving" now that i dont have as much travel/play in the assembly. I'm a "faster" driver thanks to this.

I'm telling you clint, it's a whole new car.

btw: i know this doesnt help much w/rt to the rear diff bushings, but i just had to throw that out there.

So we sent Kartboy some of our rear diff mount bushings a while back, and he got to try them out on the STi he uses for testing. He really liked them, and with the addition of his rear outrigger bushings thought the car was really smooth.

That got us to thinking. I ordered up a few sets of his outrigger bushings, and we're going to try them out with our rear diff mount bushings and see what we think. Given Kartboy's feedback on this already I think we're going to like the combination. If we do we're going to make a new kit with these. Anybody interested? I'd like to know if I should order up some more of Kartboy's bushings soon.

Kartboy's outrigger bushings are very similar to the whiteline ones, but my understanding is that they are a little softer to help cut back on the NVH that the whiteline ones exhibit. There have also been a few different install orders to cut down on the NVH. This NVH also has me concerned which is why we're going to try some out before we offer a kit.

Brett,
Kartboy doesn't have a lot of info on his site about them, but if you do a search for the whiteline ones you'll see what folks have to say.

cnstman,
See above, and while I'm at it I'll point out that our Rear Diff mount bushings make very little, if any, increase in NVH.

i will be ordering yours soon, and possibly removing the whitelines. the NHV is starting to get on my nerves, my car seems to really make alot of noise around 70-80 mph. after 20 houirs or so in the car this weekend, i almost stopped and took them out on the side of the road. do your bushings completely eliminate the clunking on hard launches/shifts?

We have not been able to get it to clunk, and we do drive it pretty hard. Tony took it to the 1/4 mile track and got in 12 hard runs with no traction and did not get the clunk.

I'm assuming you got them by now (at least I hope so), have you had a chance to play with them yet?

installed them last weekend, combined with the whiteline outrigger bushings there is a ton of NHV. it seams to start around 65 and then a constant humming from then on. i am going to take out the whitelines and give that a try, maybe this weekend, if not next week sometime probably.

product is great however, install was a breeze, my mechanic has a lift which makes it much easier. i can not believe how soft the stock bushings are.

Yeah we were a bit worried about the NVH when combined with the whiteline outrigger bushings, but since ours also eliminate the clunk we felt it was ok to go ahead with them. Pull the WL ones off and let me know what you think.

Before you completely rip those WL ones off the car you might want to try the Kartboy install technique.

The WL technique is large thick on top, and large thin on the bottom.

Kartboy technique is large thick on top, and small thick on the bottom.
