| Grassroots STI Racer Feedback Score: 3 reviews | when we do a timing belt on the 04 sti, what tools will we need? i dont have an impact gun or any air tools. i would like to stay with only hand tools or electic if thats needed? if i need a specialty tool can you guys also post the part number or a link to where i can get it? as far as i know there are the timing belt, oil, water pumps. so im not sure if we need a special tool for the crank and other pulleys? |

A breaker bar will help with removal of the crank pulley bolt. That's it really. Everything else needed is pretty standard. Tony Last edited by Mack; 02-17-2009 at 08:27 AM.. Reason: clarification |

| Grassroots STI Racer Feedback Score: 3 reviews | is there an online video or any other type of "how to do it yourself" instructions other then the "helms" book for this? im not surw what one of those looks like? "8mm allen/allen scoket" will this tool allow me to break open the crank pulley without an air tool? |

| Authorized Vendor Feedback Score: 64 reviews | BTW, I was wrong. It's a 10mm allen socket. It looks like a very short straight allen wrench on in a socket. No videos that i know of., |

Luckily I have a friend who works at the dealership that lets me borrow one when I need it. Sometimes you can get lucky smacking a breaker bar to get it to come loose but don't count on it. Are you planning to do the cam seals too? then you will need something to keep the cam gears from spinning while you take them off. I'm not sure of the part #'s for the subaru special tools. You will also need the typical sockets and the 10mm allen socket turninconcepts mentioned I can send you a pdf of the process from the subaru tech manual if you don't already have access to it. No videos that I know of either. |
