Default torque wrench question

ok, i've read numerous things on here about torque wrenches.

i've decided that I don't want to cheap out on them since they are a pretty critical part on an install, and need to be as exact as possible. but that said, I don't want to break the bank on them either...

so, what are the most useful torque wrenches that are used on the STi, in everyone's opinion - i've heard a lot of different things...

thanks and don't tell me to search more...i did

Snap-On, They have one called the Tech 2, it does torque as well as torque angle which is very nice for Torque to Yield fastners.

Buy the right tools the first time.

you'll probably need 2. I have one that is 50-250 ft/lbs and another that is 10-75. There is a bunch of stuff under 50 and a few things that are up above 75. The smaller one I have is a 3/8" drive and the large one is 1/2" drive. I have removed & torqued almost everything under the car, suspension related, driveline related, exhaust, intake, etc. and have done it all with these 2 wrenches. Mine are Craftsman. I'm happy with em.

haha i exactly what JD STI said. I have a smaller 3/8 inch one that is good from like 10-120 and then i have a 1/2 in drive one thats good from 100-250 or so. Mine are also both craftsman and work well

I have a nice snap-on clicker, but have been thinking of just picking up a few beam style for everyday use.

i like the beam style torque wrench....it has a much more positive click...
saves some time by allowing me to just leave it on a specific torque and just throw it in the tool box...

How is the Husky line of products quality and accuracy wise? They say they have a lifetime warranty and are relatively inexpensive.

When you say "beam style" do you mean this type?

what would be the advantage of this type over a clicker?
Also, is there any way to verify the accuracy of a wrench without necessarily paying for it to be re-calibrated.

Im looking to buy a 3/8 and 1/2 tq wrench set soon

Husky is not a brand i would trust... to put it lightly.

If you're looking to go toward the lower part of the price spectrum, i wouldn't go lower than craftsman.

Craftsman all the way for me. Imo perfect balence of reliability and price. And if you wrench were to break some how you could bring it into sears and they will replace it on the spot. Pretty good if you ask me..

Yes that is deflecting beam type torque wrench.

The only way i know to check the accuracy is to recalibrate it. The Sears Hardware by house will do it for free if it's Craftsman.
