Default Mechanics Glove?

What kind do you like? I've got a cheap set, but I always end up taking them off because there's not enough finger sensitivity. I can't really grab the smaller nuts and bolts (ya, I know, ha ha) with the gloves on.

i've always just stuck with the basic "mechanics" gloves that they sell at autozone and such...

They have a new version (elastic wrist band), which has much better finger sensitivity than the old ones.

I've never been able to tell the difference between the expensive name brands and the generic. IMHO you are paying just for the name....

My set I just use for projects that do not require the feel of the finger tips such as oil changes, large projects and such. I never use them when I have a chance of droping a nut or bolt and have to spend more time finding and fishing out the nut, just not that important to me I rather get my hands dirty.

I use the Craftsman gloves also. For the really fine stuff, I take them off. But for anything that's potentially knuckle-busting or grimy, I use them. They're really comfortable, and I had no problem using them when I did my bushing swap. Again, for anything other than really fine work, I think the finger sensitivity is great with these.

ive had mechanix gloves, and for me the wrist band is the weak point. i have a set of craftsmen dexterity gloves and they are just as good. no difference.

also, craftsmen has a set with the thumb, pointer, and middle fingertips missing if anyone cares.

I have a pair of CLC (custom leather craft) gloves that I use for knuckle buster parts of jobs, and I just use latex gloves for everything else as for work my hands need to be clean and well kept.

oh yeah, I loke the CLC gloves better than the craftsmans that I had before b/c they have a neoprene top across the upper knuckle

99.9% of the time, i'll use a nitrile glove when working on the car. They keep you hands cleaner and mechanix gloves will get oil and grime soaked pretty quickly.

When working on my car, if i'm using the impact or a breaker bar i might throw on my mechanix gloves. I've gone through a atleast 5 pairs of the mpact 2 and i have a pair of originals too. They're versatile and have saved my hands more times that i can count. I use them most when doing demo and remodeling work.

My only complaint with all of them is that they are hot as hell in the summer and cold in the winter because they hold in moisture.

FWIW for the guys who were complaining about dexterity, they do make a fingerless mpact. I might try a set of these:

I stick with diamond grip latex gloves, keep hands clean, and pretty much like not wearing anything as far as sensitivity goes. Have a pair of craftsman i keep lying around to save the knuckles when necessary.

i usually just use latex gloves or those blue gloves. If i do some heavy wrenching where theres a risk of me banging my hand on something, i'll wear my pair of regular mechanix gloves
