I guess, for me, I just feel like 95% of the point of getting a sweet AWD STi was to overtake any of those quick FWD and RWD cars in all conditions. Summer tires in the warm seasons, winter tires in the cold. That's the only way to go IMHO. SRT4's and any RWD cars in the rearview are the best part of my winter

With the amount of snow you get, I say go with all season tires. You have AWD and the all season tire will give you plenty of grip in the little snow your going to get. heck even if you get a big storm the all season tire will be fine. People talk about performance but why buy winter tire that outperforms an all season tire ONLY on the few days it snows. The all season tire will last longer, provide all the grip you need, and perform better the majority of the time when the road isn't snow covered.

edit: Whatever you do though, dont run the RE070's. I put mine on 1 week too early this year and found out the hard way just how bad they are. Keep in mind these weren't worn at all. I bought the car new in January so the stock RE070's only had miles on them from the test drive. They were brand new when I put them on and the car went from being a tank in the snow to not being able to accellerate, turn or stop safely.

Blizzaks gave me the confidence that if I want to stop, I will stop lol! I also used it halfway through summer FTW!
You buy snow tires in MD...

You know how to spot an out of state driver in VT during the winter? Hes the guy going 20mph UNDER the speed limit because there's snow on the SIDE of the road .

To me this makes no sense. If you are racing, have a second set of rims with Race tires ... unless you are talking about racing on public roads? - lol. With that said, all season tires do wonderfully in stoplight racing. I don't think I have ever raced anyone around corners on public roads. I just think that's stupid. I'll go WOT from 0-70. But, that's about it for me unless I am at the track. I don't appreciate putting people's lives in jeopardy. But, then again, I am married with kids. I did that kind of stuff when I was 18 ... but not now. I realize what life is worth. Keep it on the track.

I use all seasons on one set of rims year round, then run my track tires on the bbs's. I'm in jersey/DC and the snow hasn't gotten too out of control in the past couple of years. If you're in an area that see's heavy snow then most definitely go for the winter tires. If not, then the all seasons should be fine for you.

I don't care about not running a summer tire during the summer because I don't need the extra grip. I'm not running time attacks on my public roads, so it just seems pointless to me.
