The R1R's are an auto-x tire, not a track tire from what I have been told. The R1R's will over heat and get greasy on a road course.

The Dunlop Z1's are a road course tire that will take the heat very well.

This is all what I have been told and have read. I have no 1st hand experience with either tire.

I have first hand experience with the Z1's auto-xing. See my other threads.

The RE01R's handle the track just fine based on a well seasoned track guy I know in Utah. He drove em to the track, set pressures, raced, no greasy tire complaints, rester pressures,, drove home. All at Miller Motorsports park, driving a 16G Forester witha a swapped STI drivetrain and Coilovers.

RE01R's were also used and won SCCA Solo championships in Topeka last year.

Sears. I found them to be a little cheaper than TR, and have the option of pick-up as well.

Is that a special order item? I don't see the Z1's on Sears' web site.

I spoke with someone at tirerack today who said that he anticipates the Z1's will be in sometime this spring.....something about them being summer tires and the manufacturer retooling for them. I guess I'll have to go to plan b.....re070's, re01r's, or rt615's.....I had it all worked out, but now I just don't know.

I just got a set in 1 day from a local tire guy. Price was $145/tire. Says he can get them easily. Will even ship. If you live in NorCal try this guy. Ask for Damien and tell him Jeff told you.

But the RE-01R's that won at nationals were on lighter STS and STS2 cars. STX and STU were both won on Yoks, although the 01R's were close behind.
