Default 235's or 245's??

I have a set of SSR Professor SP1's 18x8.5 which I previously had 225/40/18 Michelin Pilot Sports. This size was too skinny for the 8.5 inch wheel so I am looking for something wider. Should I go with 235/40/18 or 245/40/18? I want to keep the sidewall pretty small and I have heard that the sidewall on 245/40/18's is a little big but I like the idea of a wider tire. Also does anyone know if Nitto NT555's are a good tire?

get a 235/40 in either an RT615, RE01r, AD07 or RS2

the NT555s are not as good as any listed above.

Had those wheels on my last sti, good pick! Now got Gram lights 18x8.5 57F's on the current STi. I say run a 255/35/18 like myself. You may rub, but i didnt. You can always roll the fenders or kick in some camber if you do. Also I'd listen to T3h Clap, he's probably our most knowledgeable wheel/tire guy on this forum.

well a 235/40's sidewall will be 1/5" bigger than your current 225/40.

The 245/40 will be 2/5" bigger so your choice there.

Id agree with Clap about tires though - go with a known performer.

Bridgestone RE01R, Falken RT615 or Kumho MX if they come in that size. They are cheap.

issue with a 255/35 is there are not alot of options, and no "True" performers come in that size.

slower response, higher speed in a given gear.

traction wise would be less in theory since the 45 has more flex due to the higher sidewall.

245/40 RE01Rs are awesome, I'm tempted to get a setup to run STU.

it really depends on your suspension setup.

that tire is .7" taller than stock and cause issues rubbing in the front if you're too low.

So I would not be able to go very low with a 245/40/18 RT 615? Because I like to have my ride height pretty low, wheel gap is my enemy.

are you running the +44mm offset?

do you have any more shots.

Also, i'm very unhappy with the performance of my T1Rs.
