Ok, now I have driven the General Exclaim UHP through some deep snow, in temperatures -30 deg Celcius. Tires handle great!! I ma very impressed and glad I got these tires to be used in an All-Season manner. They are excellent on wet pavement, dry pavement, and are very good in deep snow or slush. Ice is a weak point but most tires except very soft will do ok.
Really am satisfied with tire and will post a check once I have more than 10,000 miles on them. So far only 3,000 miles.

Made it through winter fine. Temperature was as low as - 34 degrees celcius.
Deepest snow I drove through was 30 cm. Had no problem in slush, snow or ice. It is now my all season tire of choice.

phenomenal value is all i can say.
Where can you pay so little for a tire that you can drive year round and have excellent grip in wet dry and snow?
The dry grip is really good though like any tire wet grip deteriorates as tread wear progresses.
Will buy again as nothing else is close in price...

Thanks for the update, I've been asking around about these tires. Glad to hear it worked out for you.

I guess I'll update on my experiences with the RE960A/S Pole Positions. They were very good tires throughout the New Jersey winter. Didn't have too much snow, but they did well when there was snow on teh ground. I remember doing a panic stop in a couple of inches of slush and the ABS kicked in but no sliding! I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't loose grip (I thought I would have slid). Still, I woudln't push any all season tire much in the snow since they aren't dedicated snow/winter tires.

As for summer/warmer performance, they have been very good again. I recently went auto crossing and I had to put on the RE070s again since the RE960s or any all seasons are not good for that kind of driving. I immediately noticed how freaking LOUD the RE070s are. And I also noticed how the steering feel improved (my guess is those stiff sidewalls in the 070s). However, the tradeoff was a harsher ride, and increased susceptibility to bump steer or whatever they call it when your car wants to follow every dip and incline in the road. Before, with the 960s, I could (if I wanted to) drive on the highway without any hands. But with the 070s, the slightest incline or dip or uneven surface sends the car immediately towards that direction.

After the auto-x, I immediately switched back to the 960s. Again, they are quieter and offer a smoother ride. Less prone to bump steer, and less nervous feeling overall. I guess the car comes alive more so with the 070s in the sense that you have to constantly keep the steering straight when driving on bumpy roads. Lively is the word I'm looking for. But for daily driving and even some intense canyon carving, the 960s seem to be fine.

I'm thinking about trying the RE-01R's next for my summer tires when these RE960s wear out. Which seems like never since I've only managed to put on 6000 miles and they show no signs of wear.
