ill be running 225/45/17 on the 8" bbs's... i dont see the reason to go with the 235 because the cost is going to be too big of a difference.

I've been running the RE-01Rs for about 6 months now on 18" wheels, after a year of running on RE-070s (two sets, stupid screw in the side wall).

My only regret was that I got 225/40/18s instead of 235/40/18s on my 8" wide GC-05Fs. If you have 8" wide wheels, get the 235's, don't make the same mistake I did. When these wear down, I'll probably replace them with the RE-01Rs.

Sometimes I miss the side wall stiffness, but the RE-01Rs have so much more traction. According to the gyros in my AVIC-Z1 I can hold a whole lateral G in corners. They're also a bit quieter, which is nice since my car doubles as my daily driver

BTW, anyone want to suggest a good tire pressure? I recently added some air, moving to 36 psi in the front and 34 in the rear. I'm thinking about going with more, but I'm not sure.

I ran 37.5 in the front and 35 in the rear and that worked very well for me. That was with 225/45/17 on stock wheels. I run the same pressure with 255/40/17 RT615's on 17x8.5 wheels also.

I'm in the market for new tires and currently I'm considering these or Potenza RE050A PP's. Which ones are better for street driving? I've been told that RE01R's have edge over dry surfaces and RE050A PP's are better for wet surfaces?

What do you all suppose is the best size for the RE01R's on stockers on an 04 STi? Its pretty much a daily driver, but the daily driving does get pretty spirited sometimes.

Good question. I have the RE05A PP's on my daily driver in size 235/45 17. I chose them because I am driving a ton of miles these days and wanted a much more civilized tire that the RE070. The 050's are definitely that! They also have a ton of grip and work well in rain. However based on reviews here I would have to say that the RE01R is the dry traction winner by a good margin. Wet traction? I have not read any commentary yet. But I will say this: I'm strongly considering going to RE01R's when I wear out the 050's.

I had a fresh set of RE01s for last Febs Redline time attack at california speedway and I set the fastest time in the street tire class in the first wet session. That was my first time racing a car in the rain and the tires worked as well as I could have imagined for a street compound non-rain specific tire.

That's not to say that another tire wouldnt have been as good/better but these worked really well and the pricing is good.

245/40's should not rub on stock wheels on RCE springs right?
