not enough to matter.

you're talking 10 miles over the 25000.

so a 255/40-17 would be almost a perfect match to the stock 225/45-17, but how will they fit on our stock 8 inch wheels? my car is at stock ride height so there sould not be any rubbing issues??? maybe???

The 245/40/17s are now $205 each at tire rack. Is there any place to get them cheaper? I'd pull the trigger if I could get them for ~$150 a tire.

the 245/40/17 is closer to stock diameter.

the 245/40/17 with the shorter sidewall will also have better steering response (in theory).
Why would you want a taller tire?

I can understand "wider" but taller unless I am in a truck I can't see value in it for an sti?

But I could be looking at this wrong...

Thanks :-)

the STi isn't short on tq or pwr so a taller tire doesn't really slow the car down and it allows for a higher top speed in each gear.

which is good for Autox not always so good for street or fitment issues

I am considering the same two sizes. I have read that one benefit of the 245/45 is that it is closer to the 235/45s run on the JDM cars. While a 245/45 is .7" larger than the 225/45 USDM tire it's only .3" larger than than the 23/45. I have read that this might help improve the accuracy of the USDM speedo. What do you guys think?

I am concerned about using the taller tire with my RCE Yellow springs with the stock 8" BBS's. Is anybody out there running the 245/45s with the these springs?

Any fittment issues on 17 wheels?

I'm having a set of RE-01R 245/40x17s mounted on 17x8 wheels this week for my 04 STi - stock suspension.

Anyone with this set up have any fittment issues, IE: rubbing, etc?

TIA.

Peace,

Curtis

you may rub in the rear depending on the offset of the wheel.

the 04s really need a fender roll.

Thanks. I'm running 17x8 rota torques. I think the offset is 48mm. Stock suspension w/78k miles. Might be time to pony up for some shocks and springs.

springs wont help.

you need to roll your fenders.
