| Junior STI Driver | your local SCCA region is wrong unless they don't use the National rules. The STi runs in A stock and E street prepared (for this year anyway). This can be readily verified by reading a rule book or looking here: http://moutons.org/sccasolo/ where there is an unofficial reprint of the rules. matt This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Junior STI Driver | The kumho 710s have been banned from SCCA. I've been running the 245x45x17 victoracers in A stock. They've been working out great for autoxing, but recently corded a pair last week during my 2nd 30 minute track session in Pahrump, NV (http://www.bragg-smith.com/track/). Awsome track! BTW, I admit to running them very hard during back-to-back track sessions and would have corded just about any other R-compound. I'm thinking about using the victoracers just for autoxing and going with something a little harder and tougher for track racing like maybe the Falken Azenis. 245x45 is working great for me and I'll probably stick to the size. no rubbing with 48mm offset wheels. I'm getting a lot of roll-over on the front tires with cold air pressure at 38psi. and camber max'ed at negative setting. Anyone else expierencing this rollover? I've just ordered the COBB front swaybar to see if it helps at all. keep'in it all A-stock legal for the time being... I took a bunch of pics and a couple in-cam race flicks. Take a look: http://68.8.161.144:81/friends/pahrump/html/index.htm here's a pic of the corded victoracer, got decent wear, but badly corded the outside: |

I've heard Victoracers are not the best at the track. They get too hot too fast. Try something like a Toyo RA-1 if you want an R compound. I've been running a set of 235/40 RA1s and they work quite well -- cost is about $160-180 each. They're OK for autocross as well, but they're not as sticky as the Kumhos. On the other hand I just set FTD at one event and 2nd after the AM car at the previous event running an ESP STi on RA-1s, so they're not that bad. New alignment and camber plates meant some crazy fast turn-in! The Miata driver who got 2nd in PAX behind me on both days now wants a much closer look at my setup... | |
