Hi. I am running Yokohama AVS S1 tires 245/40/18. They are decent wet and dry. My suspension is stock however - I know if you're lowered more than 1.0" you will rub in the rear on a 245/40/18.

For you I would recommend hub-centric rings - 57mm->66mm. I am not running them myself, but there is a bit more road noise from not running them.

Cheers,

Gary

I've got JDM Pinks on stock struts and GroupN tops... so roughly 3/4".
I'm seriously considering the 245s, but I don't want any rubbing during spirited driving or speed bumps... I've got 7 of them between my house and work... and back again.

I'd run the 245's with the pink springs. If you're going any lower then do the 235s. It's totally up to you, the wider the tire the more grip obviously, but if you're not tearing up mountain roads and the likes all the time, 235s will save you a bit of money!

Cheers,

Gary

Do you think 225/40-18 would fit on these rims. I am trying to save money on tires until a set wears out. Can I fit Kumho MX 225/40-18 on the 18x8.5 57F?

Then, if I am reading this thread right I can go with 245/40 or even 255/40 on stock stock struts with jdm spec C springs (only lower 1/4 inch).

255/40 18 is 1" too tall, no go.

sorry it would be 255/35 right? Anyway T3h_Clap do you know if the 225/40s would fit OK on the 18x8.5 at least for spring summer and part of fall until they wear out and I can easily afford some nice tires.

There's customer runing 225's. It's not too bad, we recommend it if you're excessively dropped actually. With tires that have built in rim protectors you'll be in good shape. Keep in mind 8.5" is only 215mm.

Cheers,

Gary

keep in mind the width of a wheel isn't measured from "lip to lip"

Agreed, I think 235/40/18 would be pretty optimal (I'm running 245/40/18 stock height), but then again, I also think dropping 2.5" is WAY too much but some customers are riding 2.5" down and getting rub on 235's. Different strokes for diffrent folks I guess.

Cheers,

Gary
