Default Street tire class Auto x, who run/has them

We Need a Auto X sub forum under Driving and Competition

I wasn't too sure where to put this but general seemed a good spot since we are talking about running a Subaru in auto x. <O
<O
I will put up a poll to see what other Subaru drivers that auto x think about street tire classes.
<O
The big thing I wanted to know is who is running SCCA Auto X in the USA and if their region has a separate Street tire class for all classes
<O
I know that the Detroit Region offers a Street Tire or "T" class for every class that a car can run, except ST* classes since they already run street tires. We are talking about it right now for the North Western Ohio Region and it is a hot and controversial topic.
<O
Quick run down: The idea of the T classes is to allow cars to run against other cars without R tires to try and level the playing field a little since R tires require you to burn them down on the road, trailer your car down, or bring them with you and change your tires before and after the event. Or some people want to spend money on things like power mods and not tires.
<O
I really want to know what regions have them in the US and if people like them? <O
<O
It seems to be a hot topic when someone brings up change in at the regional level, and just the fact that change is being asked for it tends to get shot down easily in established regions. Regions that do have them also debate every winter it seems to see if they have a need for the T classes at all anymore. <O
<O
So vote in the poll if you would be for or against Optional Street tire classes being established in your region. <O
<O
Those of you, who already run in a region and already have street tire classes, please post if you do and what region it is. Thanks!

*****Edited for clarification*****<O</O
<O
My region has this topic going on right now and it gets very hot sometimes, but still remains adult and civilized (except for some people who like to hide on other forums to talk BS). Please keep it adult and civilized here too. <O
<O
So I know all the reasons and points for and against more classes. I will put up a link to the discussion so others can read it if they like. <O
<O
Street Tire talk starts near the bottom of page 2.

http://forums.rawlinsnet.net/viewtopic.php?t=535&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start =15
<O
<O
If people want to talk about the reasons for and against more classes or street tire classes in general, go for it. I am looking for input and will most likely not try to argue for or against what anyone says. It’s too stressful.
<O
I am really just looking for people to vote and tell their region, and if they have a street tire category for one or more classes or none at all.

I.E.
Region (full name): North Western Ohio Region
No Street tire classes at this time.
Optional info= I voted for optional street tire classes.

Thanks again!

Whoops, I answered before I read the conditions in the post. I think putting more specialty classes out there might get confusing. If you want to compete in a stock class and win, you need to devote some cash to r-comps. I know not all racers can afford it so in that case they shouldn't be worried about wanting to win and concentrate on driving better. My first year racing I was on street tires, then my second i got r-comps and now I have gone back to street tires in STU. The better my driving became the more I wanted to spend money on good tires. So ultimately I would vote no on specialty street tire classes.

Thank you for you input, and thats ok about the wrong vote.

I am adding to my first post to clear up a few things before it gets out of control.

I'm going to move this to the Wheel/Tire forum. It probably should be there anyway, and I think you'll get more input.

I'm aware of that, but it will get a lot more attention here. If the mod of this subforum disagrees, it can be moved to the STI Sanctioned Motorsports forum. I thought this was the best place for it.

We have a street tire class in Minnesota, I thought most clubs had something similar. There is a recent thread an Nasioc you should look for.

You don't need a "T" subclass for every standard class. Basically everyone running street tires (outside of STsxu etc) can choose the "T" class, they all get lumped together, and times are adjusted based on the PAX multiplier for their "normal" class. It is very popular; some of the best drivers run it simply because they don't want the hassle of swapping rims at the event.

AS is very popular b/c it's real example of the drivers ability since most cars are equally prepped.

Front sway, R-comps, cat back, and Maybe Struts.

if you just took away R-comps and had a "Stock Street Tire" class people would still complain that "STI's come with better stock tires, we should have a class where you had to use your stock tires only"

you have to stop the madness somewhere.

STS, STS2, STX, STU

those are the local street tire classes down here.
