| STI Driver | Seems not a day goes by before someone else sells their RE070's here. I don't really understand what tire you plan to use once spring and summer rolls around. Are you just going to run all-seasons for the whole year? I would think you'd be trading away a lot of grip and handling by going with a tire other than the 070. Wasn't the RE070's designed specifically for the STi and is there a tire that can replace the dry performance of the RE070? Just curious.... This ad is not endorsed by this member. | www.Subie.tv is niiice | I want some. If you have them and want to sell them, PM me. Some tires handle better than these, for others that live in those regions that get few days of sun, then sometimes all season tires are better. These tires suck in the snow, but they sure make for good, expensive burn outs, drifts, donuts. |

| Junior STI Driver | I agree, but lets not let the word get out! I have certainly not driven every tire out there, but of the tires I have driven on, (Conti sport contact, conti sport contact II, Yokohama AVS1, Yokohama A008R's and a couple others not worth mentioning) I have to say for all around performance, I like these the best. They have amazing grip, yet decent wear. Not to mention the sidewall is stiffer than any of the above tires including that R compound tire.In Autocars's best handling car of 2003 they remarked a couple of times how great they thought the tires were. It was nice to hear my opinion re-affirmed. They really are a great tire, and I am looking forward to getting them back on the car...if spring ever shows up! Michael |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | With the amount of nice days i have here in NH and the quality of roads... i really should just sell those tires.. the last snow storm we had i ended up sideways on the highway after tapping the breaks VERY lightly for under a second.. was an interesting ride home... no dings.. at any rate i need some winter tires and a new set of rims but i have a feeling that will cost a good 2Gs and summer is almost here so im going to wait on that one (there is a post when the time comes )BUT! when i do have a nice day and decent roads... i love the tires... im pretty happy about the whole stock setup personally.. but i cant really compare it with anythings.. just love it! |

| Junior STI Driver | I live in vermont, and there is no way I would even think of keeping those tires on in the winter. In many parts Europe the law states that if you are involved in an accident in the winter with summer tires on, your insurance is not responsible for paying for your poor decision. I think it should be the same here. I bought snow tires and wheels this fall, cost was about $1200. Do yourself a favor for next year, spend the money. Michael |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | ohhh i intend to. what did you get for 1200? I dont want to get crappy rims... cant have a sweet car and crappy rims so i figure thats an easy 1000 and i know the stock tires go for about 300 each (i was told anyways) so i figured some good winter tires about run about the same.and as i said before.. at the end of the summer when i need them i will post for suggestions on rims and tires.. cuz i have no idea about this stuff.. im 23.. didnt own a car till i was 23... didnt get my lic. till i was 17 (drove parents cars) and now i cant get enough of them... the STI has changed me around big time.. so i have some catching up to do.. thankfully i have a dull job which allows me to read this stuff all day |

| Junior STI Driver | I bought Rota wheels from Subydude for $650: http://www.subydude.com/parts/details.php?7171075 Then I bought Nokian WR's, and I think they were $140 each. They are a great tire, that is stiff enough to stand up to the STi, yet still offer very good winter traction, though not Quite as good as Nokian's Hak Q or Hak 1. I highly recomend something like this. Michael |

| Junior STI Driver | no question, that is the best pure track-tire out there. There was a good article last year in Panaoram in which the compared that tire with the Kuhmo and Pirelli R compounds, and the Michelin was surperior in every lapping session. Pretty interesting read. Michael |

| Professional STI Driver | The RE 070 is a great compromise tyre. At a track event they last about 15 minutes in a 20 minute session. Then they start going away. Just like the stock brake pads... More of a greasy feeling than chunking. At an Auto-X they do have a 140 tread wear rating and they get with the program, but there is a lot left on the table compared to an R compound.
