IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2005 Trader Rating: (1) | I did notice them chunking and gumminig up though when I checked them at the end of each session. I had a severe lack of front camber (like 0.0 degrees) so they were rolling over to their sidewalls a lot, even with a lot of pressure (44-47psi hot). I really noticed track days trashed the outside edges of the RE070s without camber. What I didn't notice, however, was a greasy feeling. I'm not sure what you guys are referring to. | Spiteful Old Codger | I have been very satisfied with the 070’s in terms of street, track and autoX performance, and definitely in terms of wear. RA-1’s certainly give better performance, but they wear a little fast for just a utility street tire. I think the best plan is to have four sets: Winter, summer, track and autoX, and I will certainly consider another set of 070’s for “summer” use when the time comes. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | My gripe with the RE070 is the size. In the US we can only get 225 width RE070's which is too narrow. I think Suby rushed to get the car out for some reason and put the 05's out with 225's on an 8" wide wheel. I will be looking for 235's when these fade away. probably Toyo T1-R when it is available, or the Azenis. |

By the way, you need to adjust your profile, as you can't receive PM's now (when they changed the forums, it seems the default is that you can't receive PM's). Call, email or PM me. IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (1) | i let a used set of re070's with 93 miles on them for $525. get away from me and i had to buy a new set from tirerack. do i feel like a dope... i just dropped my v3's to a lower ride height and switched to my new tires with a fresh alignment this week. camber is set -2.0 in the front/-1.5 in the rear. time to start experimenting with bump and rebound. | Spec C Club | I just bought a new set of 070 take-offs for $500. 0 miles, tires were changed before delivery. I was about to start pricing out Toyo T1-Rs(available in Canada now) when this deal on the RE-070s came along. I had a 900km round trip yesterday to pick them up. I love my STi on the highway. ![]() Jeff |

| Amateur STI Driver | I was just at a track day where it was dry for the first two hours and then rained for the last hour. The RE070's held up very well. I was not pushing the car to the limits (more like 85%) so this post applies more to occational track drivers. Overall, I did not have to change my driving style very much once the rain started. I was worried about the rain performance of the tire but this session has aleviated those worries. From my experiences with rain, the stock tire pressure is too low and the tire ends up riding on the shoulder too much on hard cornering. Once I bumped up the pressure I found more grip in the rain. Driving conditions: 20 degrees C. Tead depth 6/32's. There was no standing water on the track but by the end of the session the track was thoroughly wet. The suspension is stock and tire pressure was 45psi front 40psi rear (hot). |

| Lurker | If you're looking for a tire as good as RE70s with better traction on wet I recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. I drove on these tires these past two summers and I could feel the difference on wet. No difference on dry. I'm also surprised they're lasting that long. I don't tend to save on rubber. I just put my F1 back on for one last summer a week ago. They look awesome too. Check it out whenever you get a chance. |

not sure if these are the same tires that come on the R32 but if they are PLEASE stay away from these. They may be the WORST tire I have ever owned period. I have gone through three already (5k miles) due to bubbling on the sidewall from hitting ANY small pothole, hard seam in the road, etc. I have to check on the exact model number but for sure it is an Eagle F1. Oh god do I hate the tires, but as long as the dealer keeps replacing them they stay ;-( | |

| Junior STI Driver | Dude, quit giving people bad advice about the Goodyears, they are fine tires. It is the idiots that own R32s and can't figure out that you need to avoid potholes in the pig heavy R32 with extremely low profile tires that are to blame. Goodyear and the Tire Rack have both looked at the tires that owners sent them and it has been confirmed that they are being ruined due to driver abuse. I hate how a good product can get a bad name because of stupid people. BTW: I don't own these tires and I wouldn't because there are better tires out there. Jon |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | In my limited opinion, the RE070 is probably the best factory tire I've ever encountered. At Mosport they held up extremely well and didn't start get "loose" until about the 10th lap of my 3rd session (short track, lots of turns). They didn't chunk but I did notice that at 43psi the fronts were getting close to rolling over. Apparently a proper alignment will fix that. It's funny because my instructor started the day off by saying that he had heard horrible things about the RE070s from other students. After he saw me on the wet skidpad and then aftering riding with me on the track, he was very impressed. He said the tires were fantastic for someone in the beginner-to-intermediate group. Obviously they aren't Rs but for a street tire, they are exceptional. I still have a decent amount of tread left too. For autox they held up really well also. I'm extremely pleased with this tire and I'm actually considering buying another set when these ones are done. I don't care about noise or ride comfort...I just want performance. | Amateur STI Driver | I heart RE70s I just bought another near new set for 340$. I think these tires are great for all around use and they wear well. Their may be better choices for 900$ but for 340$ ya cant beat em! Mine have been to the track drag strip numerous autocrosses and they still get me to work every day. What more could you want out of a tire? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
