Driving on proper tires for the weather is FUN! We got dumped on up in the Boston area today and with some nice snow tires, I had a blast tooling around dodging dopey SUVs. I put v-rated snow tires on my car in December and yank them in March. I give up a little on dry days, but every time it snows is play time!

The point is, I think you will enjoy your car more with the right tires for the conditions. Oh yeah, it's safer too. :-)

just got my snow tires installed about a week ago and let me tell you that i cant believe how much a difference the tires made. Got about 6 inches of snow over the past few days and withought the snow tires i would have been doomed. the stockers were like ice skates last season def. feared for my life a few times with those. just thought i would let you guys know my experience with the snow tires i would def recomend putting on snows. The tires i have are the hankook icebears.

Post My Thoughts on Tires...

I thought I would add my experience about the stock tires vs the tires I put on my car...
I run Dunlop Winter Sport M3's 245/40/17 all year round... I put 30k on the first set, sold them with 7/32 still on them...
(They were 225/45r17 and looked stupid on the rims (Very narrow tread), Don't as me why, but the 245/40r17 dunlops are very close in size to the sti stockers 225/45r17)
I have gone to a few autocross events with them and turned better times than the stock tires did...
The Dunlops seem much more forgiving to me, not sure if it is just my driving style or not...
I had to put the rear sway bar on the stiffest setting to get the car to corner like it did on the middle setting with the stockers... (Hotchkis sway bars)

I didn't like the way the factory tires performed in any driving, dry/wet or snow...
They would go in the snow, but stopping required downshifting, and only using the brakes for the final stop...
God help you if you need to stop in a hurry with the stockers in the snow...
On dry pavement, the wondered all over the place...
They just plain sucked in the rain... Darting and hydoplane...

Anyone that runs the stokers in the snow is asking for it...
It just isn't worth the risk...
Aside from wrecking the car, in some states, they will fine you and impound your car if it is in the snow, without snow tires...

I can agree with the others on the risk...
I know that I am not going to risk $45K on $640 tires...
