Default Hakka 4 studded on stock BBS

I'm rolling on new set of Hakka 4 studded on stock BBS.

The shoulder treadblocks look squirmy (have not tried much cornering yet)
and it's easy to get into the ABS when braking on the dry. The Hakkas are
uch more predictable than the re070 at 40 F, but do not offer much
performance improvement on cool but above freezing dry pavement.

This next week I will type them in the snow, I'm expecting delight.

Studded tires are a bit overkill on Long Island right now. Hopefully you'll get your chance to try them out tomorrow night. Definately let us know how they worked.

Studded tires are illegal in Michigan. Probably because they want the roads to stay as bad as they are instead of getting worse. Which they are anyway.

Pics?

Fantastic. Can accelerate faster on ice than the 2.0 Jetta can on dry pavement. Braking seems best if I bury the pedal and let ABS do my thinking;
with Blizzaks I've threshold braked and just nudged the ABS without relying on
it.

What's amazing is driving along a wide main road at 50 mph, seeing a side
street, looking up it and seeing it's empty, braking hard down to 30 mph,
realizing that I will not get stopped before I pass the sidestreet, but
letting off the brakes and just turning in under gentle throttle.

I had the Jetta on old Blizzaks out today too, and the Hakkas and AWD are
just overkill.
