| Amateur STI Driver | I'm just wondering if anyone could suggest some tires to fit onto 18X8.5 size wheels. I am leaning towards gold SSR C's for my blue STI as replacement rims but not I need to decide on which tires to stuff onto those wheels. I will not need true snow/rain tires since my car isn't going to know what snow is and probably will not be driven in rain either, unless I get caught offgaurd sometime while out tooling around in my car. I "know" that I could just keep running the stock tires/wheels but I am going to keep those tucked away for show purposes later in the life of this car. Any suggestions as to what tires are decent for a car of this type would be appreciated, actual owners of the tires suggested would be even better. Thanks much 8) . | Amateur STI Driver | 225-40-18 is what they will try to sell you. With an 8.5 wheel, that tire is fitting but offering no wheel protection. The tire is sitting closer to 0 than a 90 degree angle. I wwould go with 245-35-18 but im not sure if that will clear the springs. I think ill compromise and go with 235-35-18 unless i see that someone has already tried the 245 setup with a 48 offset and it clears. |

| Amateur STI Driver | Thanks for the suggestions as to what size tire will fit those rims, but I am pretty much looking for the brand and model of tire that would fit my mainly dry pavement driving needs and if that tire manufacturer makes a size that would work on these rims also. There's always a chance also that I might go for 17" wheels too but they have to be gold in color. |

| Amateur STI Driver | Hmmm, how much would I or should I spend on tires alone?. Well, considering that almost any modifications done to this car are going to cost anyone attempting to do so some coin, I would consider spending up to around $200.00 per tire. I'm not looking for pure racing tires either, just something with a bit more grip than those stock "slicks". |

| Junior STI Driver | 200 is a very nice figure. you could get a lot of tires for that price. My vote goes to the Michelin pilot sports ps2's. They come factory with the porcshe gt3 and newer porche's they were introduced i think just late last year overall and not many people heard about them. They have more dry grip then the s03's and kd's and even dethrone the gsd3's in wet grip. So you got best of both worlds!! if i was willing to spend that much, i would not go any other way. oh yeah they are very very quiet compared to the tires in that performace range. They list for 166 at tirerack. They are the best daily driving tire IMO. |

| Amateur STI Driver | 245/35ZR18 Dunlop Super Sport Race for $131 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes Seems like a damn good deal. I think Myles from RaceComp Engineering had these on his 18" BBS RE's. - Josh This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
