Default Best Sub $100 Summer Performance Tire

I'm looking for a $100 or less summer performance tire to hold me over until I get my new rims and tires.

I'll be buying them once its stays in the 50's and 60's in NJ. Lately it seems like we'll never "really" begin winter.

Tire size will most likely be 245/45/17. But I may just go with 225/45/17.

I spent some time on Tire Rack and found General Exclaim UHP in a 245/45/17 size for $79.99/ a tire. On tire rack they are rated pretty high for it being General Brand.

The only reason I am not going back to the RE070's is they have very little tread left on them. I'm affraid that if I put those on "just to hold me over", I'll end up in a ditch somewhere from "drifting" on accident.

Let me know what you guys think.

For just $12 each over your target, you can get these...

Good tires, worth paying a little more for. Also, shipping is free.

BFGoodrich g-force sports...just had them installed on my car and I DD them. Haven't found a downside to them yet, even when comparing them to the stockers. Definitely consider them.

+1 for those. I haven't tried them on the street yet, but Skip Barber runs those on their cars and they were great on the track.

I would recommend these Yokohama AVS ES100 tires
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=7
Price is $102 each and I love the brand. They have a 280 treadwaer so they should last a few years.

did you keep the stock 225/45 or go wider. if you went wider how well does it fit on the stock rim.

Is 245/40/17 a good tire size or is this to much width?

Best bang for the buck is a set of potenza sti 070 takeoffs, the a set of Yokohamma Advan evo takeoffs!! None of the tires mentioned so far perform anywhere near these 2,yet people continue to take them off and sell them dirt cheap.I hope they keep doing it!!
