| Professional STI Driver | I was thinking about buying a set of tires and then storing them for around 2 years before I mount them. Will the structure of the tire get compromised if I store it that long? I was going to wrap them and put them in the garage. I live in Socal so the temperatures are not that extreme. | STI Driver | Look at the manufacture date on the tire. I believe Bridgestone warranties against defects for up to 6 years after that date. <o></o> Is 2 years a long time on a newer tire? I don’t think so as long as you store them in a cool, dry place out of the sun. Look at all the people running winter/summer tires. Those sets are sitting for 6+ months in some cases and even lasting over 4 years with no issues. Last edited by webcrawlr; 01-08-2007 at 06:05 PM. |

| Professional STI Driver | Put the tyres in a black garbage bag and keep them away from ozone generators. Next to the furnace with an electric fan motor is a bad place for example. A root cellar would be best... |

| Professional STI Racer | Put the tires in a plastic bag. You can use a vacum cleaner to suck some of the air out if you want. Then stand them on their tread in some manner. I stood my RT215 in a box. Do NOT stack them on their sides. Cool, dry place out of the sun is a must also. I actually kept a set of RT215 around for over a year before mounting them. Worked pretty good still when I finally mounted them. Really though, why would you wait two years to use them? Do you go through tires that slowly? The only reason I waited on my Falkens is because I ordered them and the shipment got lost. I ordered a different set of tires/wheels during that time frame and had the on my car. Then my Falkens showed up. Didn't need them that summer, winter came and I couldn't use them. Moved and waited till the next summer to mount them. |
