IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | I got my icebears installed today. Dealer must have ran into trouble prying the re070's off, they caused some slight damage on the lip of each rim... thatgs another topic It was raining here in philly, then dry later today. Tire feel really good. A lot better in the wet than the stockers, feel good at speed. So far, impressed. Now just have to wait for snow. This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Amateur STI Driver | If dealer caused damages to your wheels you should have them replace it. I've heard a lot of good things about those tires... Quote:

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | I put on a set of the Icebears about two weeks ago. Pros and cons: + They are affordable + The sidewalls are reasonably stiff + They handle very well in dry and wet (no snow here yet) + Conservative tread pattern means less noise and tramlining - They do give you a bit of the marshmallow in corners, but not too bad. - Until you put about a hundred miles on them, they just don't like to corner in the wet I had mine put on at Discount Tire of all places, and they didn't leave a single scrath on my rims. Took them 20 minutes, which is impressive considering that you usually have to dynamite the Potenzas to get them to turn the wheel loose. |

The dealer is not going to replace the wheels. I just took my car out yesterday and today in some icy, snowy slush and the icebears performed fantastic. No problems whatsoever. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | Its just very slight ~1cm rash/scratch, one spot similarly on each wheel. I'll have to snap some pics... You'd think a subaru dealer could do it no probs... What pressures are you guys running? I put 35 PSI front, 30 rear. So far after only 2 days, these things are great in the dry. Cant wait for snow. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (9) | i work for toyota as a tech, damage is like like 95% unavoidable when taking out low profile tires or putting them on. its basically a biotch when doing it cuz the sidewalls are so small/hard that they dont flex. when u put the arm on teh rim, you use a prybar type thing to pull the tire over the adapter.what actually marks the rim is the plastic adapter, because the sidewalls are so small, u have to use a crap load of power/force to get the bead of the tire over the adapter, all the pressure, and the rotation of the machine marks the wheel a bit. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I was having such a hard time finding snow tires for my wheels (18 x 9) but finally found some. After having them order several sets of 17's that didn't clear my brakes, I finally settled on the Icebears. The wheel place streched some onto my rims and I went out in the snow and drove around Denver...fast. I had them on an 02 WRX before this too and they rip hard. I dropped the clutch at 4k rmp and they just hardly slipped at all. I love these tires...plus, the Bridgestones you can only go 99mph on and these are much higher rated. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Glad you like them so far. This is going to be my second winter on Icebears and I think it is a very good tire for the money. These are my first snow tires so I can't really compare them to the fancier Dunlops and B-stones though. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Ran the Icebars last winter and now have them on. They are actually pretty good on dry with a stiff sidewall. They are much better in rain then the stockers and they really handle snow well. I've been through over 8 inchs of unplowed roads with no problems. I run 45psi all around to get rid of the gummy feeling. Can't beat the price and the treadware is nice. |

| Professional STI Driver | I just got the icebears on a few weeks ago and in that amount of time I have a good 1000 miles or so on them. I live in MT and the weather can change dramatically very fast so in the past few weeks I have riven these tires on dry pavement from 0 to 55 degrees, wet pavement, ice, and about 8 inches of unplowed snow! So far, the tires have been great in all conditions. They are decent on dry (great for winter tire)...high speed turns or really hard corners is the only place they are noticibly different than the stockers. They also do great in wet conditions. So far they have also done really well in powder, packed snow, and ice. To top it all off they are way cheaper than most other tires in this class! I couldn't be happier with them. On a side note: I also got a little damage on each wheel which is VERY frustrating but I'm going to paint the wheels this spring andyways so whatever. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I just got my icebears put on, 80 bucks for the mount and balance.. yah that can get a bit pricey, but money speaks so I had to use the stock BBS rims. they seem to perform pretty good, so far it's only been dry pavement here in STL. At high speeds, they seem to make noise when accellerating hard. (I was running at about 70mph up to 120mph) I thought the wheels were out of balance until I let off the gas and maintaining speed, the noise let off.. I guess it could have been traction loss but it didn't feel like it. anyone else notice this? As far as cruising road noise goes, as everyone else has mentioned, they're pretty darn quiet and still handle the turns pretty well. I'll probably keep these tires on the BBS's and buy some decent street wheels in the summer and put the stock tires on those until I burn em up, then maybe go for some performance radials instead. |
