Default Question for the wheel experts

Quick question for the fitment experts.

I recently bought some Toyo RA-1s in size 255/40/17 and I have begun to get worried about whether or not they will fit. I am planing on mounting the tires to Rota Slipstreams in 17x8.5 and an offset of 48. The tires measure 10.4 inches wide on a 9 inch wheels. This wheel be a tire and wheel combo used for HPDEs. My suspension is undecided but is between V3s, RCE springs and plates, or RCE coils (?).

Am I going to rub on either the fender or the strut? Did I make a mistake on buying these tires? Do I need a slightly narrower size? My car is an '05.

Thanks for your help.
Andy

I'm no expert but from what I've seen and read, you should be alright. Because you have an 05 you can get away with running wider tires, however the only thing that worries me is that you are running 255/45 tires. Since 255's have the tendency to bulge at the sidewalls and the fact that the tires you're running are slightly taller it may cause rubbing. Most of the people I've seen run 255's used 255/40's and ran them no problem even when lowered (on 17's of course).

Oops, my bad, the tires are 255/40. I too have seen many running 255/40 tires but most of those are narrower than the Toyos.

255 Azenis are not narrow by any means... Of course, I haven't seen the Toyos

If I go with KWs I shouldn't have to worry about hitting the strut? Great.

you won't rub, with a 48 offset you are a-okay with that wide of a tire (the 255 rt615 are that wide)
