Why are you so against the +35 offset? Stress on the wheel bearings?

^^They also aren't available in gold. Personally, I'll be going with the 17x8.5 +40 for my track wheels

Ohhh, true. No gold.

And Ben uses the 17x8.5 +40 RPF1's on the HSPN Race Car

A.) I want an offset that I can run more than 235 and not have it "poke"

B.) I want gold

C.) I like how the Subaru fitment Gold RPF1s are hubcentric (56.1 no need for rings).

D.) the +45mm 8" is perfect for the street and wont effect my scrub radius.

E.) profit???

hahaha

I've got the Gram Lights to hold me over and use for Track Wheels once I get the RPF1s.

I need Autox Wheels now so I'm not worried about picking up the RPF1s "Right Now!"

Does he really? I didn't know he had the 8.5's, do you know what tires he's running in which size?

He is also using Dunlop SP Super Sport Race 225/45/ZR17.

I know your think that a 225 is too narrow for a 8.5" but check out this and this.

Interesting stuff. I was going to mount 255/40/17 RA-1s but I'm a little worried about fitment. Maybe I'm better off going with a 235/45/17, as they run pretty wide anyways. I guess I can always work my way up to a 255 if I have some extra clearance to work with.

That sounds good to me. I think the 235 will work just fine. If you have enough room and feel the need, you can always bump up to a 255.

for autox I can see the reasoning for "as big as possible" but for the track, I'd think a properly sized tire for the rim would be beneficial.

keep the shoulder "tight"

235/45 17 RA1 on an 8.5" rim would be a good combo.
