Fender Rolling is bascially using a specialized tool to simply bend your inner fender ledge/lip inward so the sidewall of your tire no longer rubs on it. In extreme cases some people actually use the tool to "flare" their fenders outward. The tool is a hand operated tool that attaches to your wheel hub. It has an arm with a "roller" attached that moves back and forth slowly bending your fender outward. Since your bending metal, you need to heat up your fenders with a heat gun while you're rolling them, so your paint doesn't crack. This is the main reason why the easiest method (using a baseball bat) may not always be the safest.

Check this link out, it's not a subaru but it should give you the general idea of how its done: http://www.mazda6tech.com/index.php?...id=17&Itemid=1

Fender rolling really isn't noticable unless you go crazy with the fender roller and really flare them out. It's relatively cheap too. Most shops will do it for $50-$75 an axel.
