I don't think the wheels matter...but I know tires do...

Additionally, when you say engine management, keep in mind that STU rules DO NOT allow boost increases, only fuel and timing. If your EM has boost increases you'll be in BSP automatically and only go up from there. |

and if you're in BSP its free reign on wheels and tires. what suspension are you running? only things legal in stock are; Front Sway 17x8 +46-+60 (7mm within stock offset (it maybe 8mm)) catback and Shocks, struts that don't raise/lower the car at all. I personally compete in BSP so if you've got questions fire away.

STX and STU are unlimited in wheels, but 245mm tires are the max for both classes on AWD vehicles. STS has the 7.5" wheel width limit. I was looking into this last night since I was looking at another set of wheels. To the OP, 17x8 or 17x8.5 wheels would be better I think. Lighter, cheaper, and the tires are a lot cheaper too.

| Professional STI Racer | So you wouldn't go with 18x8.5 for performance purpuse (maybe just for the looks) Would it be lighter to have the 18x8.5 as compared to a reinforced side wall tire with a big side wall (these could get heavy) |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2002 Trader Rating: (12) | I would say going with a 17X8.5 would be more beneficial then a 18X8.5 from a performance standpoint. The same wheel will weigh less in a 17" then an 18". Of course, if you want the 18"s for longer gearing, then that's a different story. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
