I would choose LM 25's for the overall performance. I was thinking of the Revo before but if it snows a lot, my job would either have a delayed opening or completely closed. So why do I really need a more extreme winter tire? LM 25's + Subaru AWD should be more than enough

Yea the tread looks more agressive for dry than the Blizzaks and I read a cool review where the LA poliece department tried to destroy them in testing as a potential snow tire (I have no idea why the cops want snow tires in LA) and they held up really well.

For the money you can't beat the Hankook Ice Bar. These tires are really
good in the snow (over 6 inches) and perform very nice on dry roads.
They have a pretty stiff sidewall. I went with the 215/50 on the MB
rims from Direct Discount Tire. Great tires and rims !

Thanks DarkSti! I have tried Blizzaks before on another car (oops) and had good results. These new Pirelli tires look pretty cool, but probably cost more. Too bad the P-Zero snow tire isn't still around. I'll stick with Bridgestone. Great pics!

It really is hit and miss! Last winter was weird, because we were golfing until January (?!?) then the snow started. Usually it's 2-3 feet all winter and between -5C and -35C. That's an average winter, but if it gets into the warmer side, we can get up to two feet overnight. You know how it is. Just imagine a hard as f*** ocean storm coming in and dumping. Thx. Cheers I think I'll go Bridgestone.

What load rating are you planning to go with on the Pirellis? The 91H or the 94V?

The available sizes are wierd as the 210s are avail in 225/45 but are only H rated. The pimpness is the sottozero 240 V rated but im stuck at 235/45 or somthing real skinny and tall (for stock wheels). I noted that the 235/45 17V is the only one in the 240 line that doesnt cary the XL load rating but im not concerned with that I don't drive a 4000lb BMW which is basicly what these are for.

Go with the Nokian H2's. I debated over a good set of winter tires two years ago and decided on the Blizzaks but then the fire at the bridgestone facility solved the problem when I could not get them and I went with the Nokians. I am glad I did. I put 4 of them on my Jetta for the winter and it handled better in the snow then my 4X4 truck with BFG AT's all around. They are a little pricey but well worth it.

Big Bear? Mammoth? I know. It's a hard choice when it's sunny all the time where you live but 45 min away it can be dumping. I think the only way to really do it is to have another set of wheels. This way you are ready for a dump alert. Tire rack has a wheel that fits the STi for $99 each.
