IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I like a lip on my wheels and want to know what is the widest offest that can fit the STi and clear the calipers. I've seen the other wheel threads and none have really answered my questions. I have a 18x7.5 inch wheel, ET38 from my dead VW GTI 337 and test fit it yesterday. It cleared fine and didn't stick out at all. It was actually a few mm inside the fenderwell. Can we go 33-35 offset? Thanks! This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | It depends on the type of wheel spokes needed to clear the calipers? For example the stock BBS are 17x7.5 +53 , but some 17 x 7.5 +48mm will fit. This site is very nice in terms of what (expensive=Prodrive) wheels fit the STi. I plan on getting some gold Prodrive GC-06s when spring comes. They mention that +43 thru +53 offset will fit. http://www.bigwheels.net/wheelshow.jsp?modelid=638 I do give them credit for being the only website I have seen to this point that claims to carry that size offset in the P1s. Back to the issue at hand......the offset you are speaking of on a 7.5" rim would not be a good idea. The wheel might still fit in the fenderwell, but the point of rotation in the contact patch has changed considerably from stock. This will lead to a feeling like the car will never want to turn. Unless you are balancing more wheel width inside the fenderwell, it's never a good idea to use a smaller offset. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. | |
